  1. 1. The Character of the Particle Emissions from Possible Future Marine Fuels in SOx ECAs

    Författare :Maria Anderson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; heavy fuel oil; emission factor; marine fuel; black carbon; marine diesel oil; LNG; ship emission; liquefied natural gas; nanoparticle;

    Sammanfattning : Particles in the ambient air come from both natural and anthropogenic sources. One anthropogenic source is combustion of fossil fuels. The awareness of these particles impact on human health and climate has increased the interest for the particle emissions from e.g. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Particle Emissions from Ships

    Författare :Maria Zetterdahl; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; LNG; marine fuel; fuel sulphur content; particle emission; sulphur emission control area; aromatics; SECA; heavy fuel oil; marine diesel oil; liquefied natural gas; ship emission;

    Sammanfattning : Since 1st of January 2015 ships operating in sulphur emission control areas (SECAs) have to use marine fuels with a fuel sulphur content less than 0.1 %m/m. This regulation forces the ship owners to make a fuel shift and use low-sulphur marine fuel oils, use alternative fuels or use scrubbers on-board their ships. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Life Cycle Assessment of Present and Future Marine Fuels

    Författare :Selma Bengtsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; LCA; marine fuels; environmental impact; LNG; biofuels; heavy fuel oil; Life Cycle Assessment; marine gas oil; liquefied natural gas;

    Sammanfattning : Interest in new fuels for marine propulsion is growing, mainly as a result of stricter environmental regulations but also due to increased attention to air pollution, greenhouse gas emissions and the uncertainty of future oil supply. Several different fuels and exhaust abatement technologies are proposed for marine transportation, all of which have different advantages and disadvantages in relation to the environment and human health. 4. 4. Androgenic Effects of the Progestin Levonorgestrel in Three-spined Stickleback (Gasterosteus aculatus)

    Författare :Johan Svensson; Björn Brunström; Ingvar Brandt; Emma Wincent; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : The extensive use of pharmaceuticals and their poor removal by wastewater treatment plants has led to the emergence of pharmaceutical compounds as global aquatic contaminants. Progestins, the synthetic analogues to progesterone, are receiving increasing attention as contaminants and have been shown to impair reproduction in fish and amphibians at low ng L-1 concentrations. 5. 5. Developmental and Reproductive Toxicity of Progestagens in the Xenopus (Silurana) tropicalis Test System

    Författare :Moa Säfholm; Cecilia Berg; Ingvar Brandt; Jan Olsson; Louis Guillette; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Xenopus tropicalis; sex organ differentiation; oogenesis; fertility; ovary; oviduct; progestagens; Biologi med inriktning mot ekotoxikologi; Biology with specialization in Environmental Toxicology;

    Sammanfattning : Progestagenic compounds are emerging contaminants found in surface and ground water around the world. Information on the effects and potency of progestagens is needed in order to understand the environmental risks posed by these compounds. LÄS MER
