  1. 36. The atypical Rho GTPase RhoD and its role in cellular dynamics

    Författare :Magdalena Blom; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Despite its discovery 20 years ago, the accumulated knowledge about the Rho member RhoD is scarce. Instead, the vast majority of studies concerning Rho GTPases has focused on the three classical members RhoA, Cdc42 and Rac1. In contrast, RhoD is considered an atypical Rho GTPase, with an aberrant GTP/GDP cycling and an unknown regulation. LÄS MER

  2. 37. The role of calcium and calcium-regulated proteins in neutrophil phagocytosis

    Författare :Petra Jerström Skarman; Urban Gullberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Sammanfattning : Neutrophil phagocytosis is an essential component of the innate immunity against invading pathogens. The two types of phagocytosis that are investigated in detail are IgG- and C3bi-mediated phagocytosis. Although the two types are controlled differently, they share the same driving force - reorganisation of the actin cytoskeleton. LÄS MER

  3. 38. Water Fluxes and Cell Migration : How Aquaporin 9 Controls Cell Shape and Motility

    Författare :Thommie Karlsson; Karl-Eric Magnusson; Roger Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Prerequisites for all modes of cell migration are cell-substratum interactions that require a sophisticated interplay of membrane dynamics and cytoskeletal rearrangement. Generally, a migrating cell is polarized with a distinct rear and front, from which it extends a wide and thin membrane protrusion- lamellipodium, small fingerlike projections- filopodia, and membrane blisters- blebs. 4. 39. Rho-kinase signalling in systemic inflammatory responses

    Författare :Jan Slotta; Kirurgi; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Endotoxemic liver injury is characterized by an initial release of pro-inflammatory cytokines and CXC chemokines, which leads to a recruitment of leukocytes to the liver microvasculature. The mechanisms of leukocyte recruitment are well characterized and comprise on the one hand a mechanical trapping of leukocytes in sinusoids, and on the other hand a multi-step process of leukocyte-endothelial cell interactions in postsinusoidal venules. 5. 40. Modulation of Receptor Signaling and Functional Selectivity in Neutrophils

    Författare :Michael Gabl; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; neutrophils; G-protein coupled receptors; reactive oxygen species; ligands; functional selectivity; allosteric modulation;

    Sammanfattning : Neutrophils are important effector cells of the innate immune system and in the regulation of inflammation. Many of their functions, such as chemotactic migration, secretion of granule constituents and activation of the oxygen radical-producing NADPH-oxidase, are regulated by cell surface receptors. LÄS MER
