  1. 1. Enamel of primary teeth - morphological and chemical aspects

    Författare :Nina Sabel; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Demineralization; Enamel; Enamel hypoplasia; Microradiography; Mineralization; Neonatal line; Polarized light microscopy; Scanning electron microscopy; Secondary ions mass spectrometry; X-ray microanalysis;

    Sammanfattning : Enamel is one of the most important structures of the tooth, both from a functional and esthetic point of view. Primary enamel carries registered information regarding metabolic and physiological events that occurred during the period around birth and the first year of life. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Dentofacial morphology in Turner Syndrome karyotypes

    Författare :Sara Rizell; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthodontics; Turner syndrome; genetics; karyotype; geno-phanotype correlation; anthropometrics; craniofacial morphology; dental arch; dental crown width; enamel; primary teeth; elemental composition;

    Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this thesis was to study dentofacial morphology in Turner syndrome (TS) versus controls and the influence hereupon from karyotype. One hundred thirty two TS females (5-66 years of age), from Göteborg, Uppsala and Umeå were participating. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Our Bones, who art contaminated : Glues, strontium isotopes, and mobility in early Swedish Christians

    Författare :Crista Adelle Wathen; Kerstin Lidén; Sven Isaksson; Christophe Snoeck; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Strontium isotopes; contamination; conservation; glues; Christianity; mobility; early Christians; Sweden; Varnhem; Västerhus; bones; teeth; Scientific Archaeology; arkeologi med inriktning mot laborativ arkeologi;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to build upon previous research into contamination and its effects on isotopes by focusing on the strontium isotopic ratio (87Sr/86Sr), which is used in mobility studies to study the movements of past humans and animals and to build past economic trading networks. Contamination is a broad topic, and in the scope of this thesis, it concerns the introduction of contaminants from the soil after interment and the post-excavation preservation efforts. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Clinical aspects of restorative treatment in the primary dentition

    Författare :Mirja Varpio; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Child; Child; Preschool; Cohort Studies; Composite Resins; chemistry; DMF Index; Dental Caries; epidemiology; microbiology; pathology; therapy; Dental Cavity Preparation; classification; Dental Enamel; pathology; Dental Restoration; Permanent; statistics numerical data; Follow-Up Studies; Glass Ionomer Cements; chemistry; Humans; Molar; Prevalence; Prosthesis Failure; Recurrence; Sweden; epidemiology; Tooth; Deciduous;

    Sammanfattning : The failure rate of restorative treatment in primary teeth was studied in a cohort of children born in 1981 and related to caries diagnosis, prevalence and distribution on different tooth surfaces, and compared with a cohort of children born in 1971. Concurrently, the longevity of composite resin in modified Class 2 cavities in primary molars was followed up and the resistance of deciduous and permanent enamel to acid adjacent to composite resin and glass polyalkeonate cement (GPA) was tested in vitro. 5. 5. Dental Health Care Cooperating with Primary Health Care as a Resource in Early Case Finding of Patients with Diabetes or Hypertension

    Författare :Sevek Engström; Kurt Svärdsudd; Christian Berne; Lars Gahnberg; Margareta Kristenson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Screening; dental care; primary health care; high blood pressure; high blood glucose; Family Medicine; Allmänmedicin;

    Sammanfattning : Objectives To investigate if there is an association between dental health status and high blood pressure, to test the effectiveness of screening for high blood pressure and high blood glucose performed by the dental health care in collaboration with primary health care and to investigate the direct costs for this type of screening organisation. Study population and methods In Paper I 54 subjects with known hypertension and 141 with a high blood pressure in the dental office were compared with matched controls. LÄS MER
