1. Ultracold atoms in optical potentials : from noise-induced transport to superfluidity
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, both experimental studies and numerical simulations of ultracold atoms in optical potentials are presented in a collection of nine scientific papers. In particular, noise-induced transport in dissipative optical lattices and superfluid properties of Bose-Einstein condensates have been studied. LÄS MER
2. Water Quality and Optical Properties of Swedish Lakes and Coastal Waters in Relation to Remote Sensing
Sammanfattning : Semi-analytical models for remote sensing of water quality parameters need to be parameterized with specific inherent optical properties. In this thesis, data on specific inherent optical properties of Swedish lakes and coastal waters is presented. Also, the problems of measuring in situ spectral backscattering are addressed. LÄS MER
3. Diffractive Optical Elements: Fabrication, Replication, and Applications and Optical Properties of a Visual Field Test
Sammanfattning : This thesis mainly treats the fabrication, replication and applications of diffractive optical elements. A smaller part deals with optical properties of a visual field test. Diffractive optical elements are computer-generated micro-optic components that use diffraction to manipulate light. LÄS MER
4. Inherent optical properties of Swedish natural waters and their relations to optical remote sensing of water quality parameters

5. Magnetooptical properties of dilute nitride nanowires
Sammanfattning : Nanostructured III-V semiconductors have emerged as one of the most promising materials systems for future optoelectronic applications. While planar III-V compounds are already at the center of the ongoing lighting revolution, where older light sources are replaced by modern white light LEDs, fabricating such materials in novel architectures, such as nanowires and quantum dots, creates new possibilities for optoelectronic applications.
