  1. 11. Production and emission of CO2 in two unproductive lakes in northern Sweden

    Författare :Jan Åberg; Mats Jansson; Anders Jonsson; David Bastviken; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; lake; carbon dioxide; organic carbon; inorganic carbon; boreal; arctic; DOC; DIC; CO2; emission; thermal stratification; allochthonous organic carbon; Freshwater ecology; Limnisk ekologi; Physical geography; Naturgeografi; naturgeografi; Physical Geography;

    Sammanfattning : Unproductive lakes are one of few natural landscape compartments with net release of carbon to the atmosphere. Lakes also generally decrease the net terrestrial carbon uptake, since most of the CO2 production in unproductive lakes are derived from organic carbon produced on land (e.g. in forests). LÄS MER

  2. 12. Lake Fluxes of Methane and Carbon Dioxide

    Författare :Eva Podgrajsek; Erik Sahlée; Dennis Baldocchi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; air-lake gas exchange; carbon dioxide; eddy covariance; floating chambers; methane; waterside convection; Meteorology; Meteorologi;

    Sammanfattning : Methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2) are two important greenhouse gases. Recent studies have shown that lakes, although they cover a small area of the globe, can be very important natural sources of atmospheric CH4 and CO2. LÄS MER

  3. 13. NMR studies of metabolites and xenobiotics : From time-points to long-term metabolic regulation

    Författare :Ina Ehlers; Jürgen Schleucher; Farquhar Graham; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NMR spectroscopy; isotopomer; phospholipid; persistent organic pollutant; CO2 fertilization; photorespiration;

    Sammanfattning : Chemical species carry information in two dimensions, in their concentrations and their isotopic signatures. The concentrations of metabolites or synthetic compounds describe the composition of a chemical or biological system, while isotopic signatures describe processes in the system by their reaction pathways, regulation, and responses to external stimuli. 4. 14. Traffic Emissions of Aerosols

    Författare :Matthias Vogt; Douglas Nilsson; Eiko Nemitz; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Primary Aerosol Emissions; Carbon Dioxide Emissions; Traffic Aerosol; Urban Aerosol; Traffic Activity; Emission Factors; Eddy Covariance; Aerosol Flux; Atmosphere and hydrosphere sciences; Atmosfärs- och hydrosfärsvetenskap; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Non-exhaust traffic emissions are unregulated, yet the mass emission of non-exhaust particles may be larger than exhaust emissions. In addition, their emission factors (EF) are more uncertain than exhaust emissions. This thesis presents aerosol flux measurements in Stockholm using the eddy covariance method. LÄS MER

  5. 15. Acclimation of plants to combinations of abiotic factors : connecting the lab to the field

    Författare :Zsofia Réka Stangl; Vaughan Hurry; Lisa Ainsworth; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; nitrogen; carbon dioxide; temperature; thermal acclimation; mycorrhiza; boreal forest; climate change; C:N balance; allocation; respiration; photosynthesis; terrestrial biosphere model;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing atmospheric CO2 and other greenhouse gasses coupled to the accelerated rate of global warming puts plants and ecosystems under the strain of a rapidly changing abiotic environment. Understanding the impacts of changing global climate is a strong focus of plant science and the establishment of more resilient crop variants is an important goal for breeding programs. LÄS MER
