21. Zeolite membranes for effective production of biofuels
Sammanfattning : To deal with the increasing demand of renewable fuels, more efficient processes for the production of biofuels are needed. Zeolite membranes have the potential to improve many existing processes that could be used for production of biofuels. Methanol is a potential biofuel that may be produced from synthesis gas in an equilibrium limited reaction. LÄS MER
22. Modelling carbon uptake in Nordic forest landscapes using remote sensing
Sammanfattning : Boreal forests and peatlands store over 30% of the global terrestrial carbon in their vegetation and soil. but changing climate can compromise the current carbon stock. LÄS MER
23. Fluid-induced alteration of metasedimentary rocks in the Scottish Highlands
Sammanfattning : Fluids, mainly H2O and CO2, are released from H- and C-bearing phases during prograde metamorphism. Because of the buoyancy of these fluids, they rise within the crust towards the surface of the Earth. Metamorphic fluids take advantage of permeable horizons, shear zones, fold hinges, fractures, and are channelled into high-flux zones. LÄS MER
24. Free-Vehicle Benthic Lander Technology for the Study of Biogeochemical Processes in Marine Sediments
Sammanfattning : Various sediment sampling and incubation techniques were used to characterize benthic biogeochemical processes important for an improved understanding of the oceanic carbon cycle. Recent flux data from the Arctic Siberian shelf are revealing differences (often by a factor of ten) between areas affected by the big Russian river outlets (high fluxes) and areas with low influence from land (low fluxes). 25. Towards an integrated ecology through mechanistic modelling of ecosystem structure and functioning
Sammanfattning : Plant physiology, population dynamics and the structure and functioning of ecosystems are closely interrelated. However, these processes are often investigated independently within different subdisciplines of ecology. LÄS MER
