1. Traffic Emissions of Aerosols
Sammanfattning : Non-exhaust traffic emissions are unregulated, yet the mass emission of non-exhaust particles may be larger than exhaust emissions. In addition, their emission factors (EF) are more uncertain than exhaust emissions. This thesis presents aerosol flux measurements in Stockholm using the eddy covariance method. LÄS MER
2. Quantification of sources and removal mechanisms of atmospheric aerosol particles
Sammanfattning : The focus of this work has been to quantify important processes for climatically relevant aerosols, and to improve our understanding of, and ability to accurately model, aerosols in the atmosphere on a large scale. This thesis contains five papers focused on different parts of the life cycle of atmospheric aerosol particles. LÄS MER
3. Primary Marine Aerosol Production : An experimental study based on Arctic Ocean water and a sea water proxy
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the interplay between the physical properties of ocean water and primary marine aerosol (PMA) emissions in the context of a rapidly changing Arctic climate. PMAs are an important part of the climate system due to their ability to interact with incoming solar radiation and to influence cloud properties. LÄS MER
4. Submicrometre aerosol emissions from sea spray and road traffic
Sammanfattning : The uncertainty of the climate and health effects of aerosols is still large, one important reason being lack of knowledge of the primary emissions. This thesis combines laboratory and field experiments, and process modelling in an effort to better quantify the submicrometre aerosol emissions and to understand some of the processes in the atmosphere. 5. Primary Marine Aerosol Production : Studies using bubble-bursting experiments
Sammanfattning : Aerosol particles affect the Earth’s climate, although their impact is associated with large uncertainties. Primary marine aerosol represents a significant fraction of the global aerosol budget considering the Earth’s 70-percentage coverage by oceans. LÄS MER
