  1. 11. Genetic polymorphism and regulation of cytochrome P450 2E1

    Författare :Yin Hu; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) participates in the metabolism of several xenobiotics. A physiological role of CYP2E1 is its ability to convert acetone into gluconeogenetic precursors. Due to a pronounced oxidase activity CYP2E1 can generate substantial amount of oxygen free radicals and may contribute to oxidative stress. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Protein kinases in hormonal regulation of adipocyte metabolism

    Författare :Christine Berggreen; Proteinfosforylering; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Adipocyte; PKB; AMPK; SIK3; insulin; catecholamines; lipolysis; lipogenesis; glucose uptake; de novo fatty acid synthesis; A769662; Akti; cAMP;

    Sammanfattning : Abstract Along with liver and muscle tissue, adipose tissue helps maintain normal levels of glucose and lipids in the blood and has a very important role when it comes to storing lipids that can provide whole-body energy. After a meal is ingested, adipocytes take up glucose from the circulation and use it as a substrate for synthesis of new fatty acids (FAs) in a process known as de novo fatty acid synthesis, as well as for synthesis of glycerol. 3. 13. Regulation of sterol and glycoalkaloid biosynthesis in potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) : identification of key genes and enzymatic steps

    Författare :Nurun Nahar; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Nyckelord :LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Steroidal glycoalkaloids (SGA) are toxic secondary metabolites present in some members of the Solanaceae family, including potato and tomato. The SGA level in tubers of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) depends on genetic factors, but can also increase in response to e.g. LÄS MER

  4. 14. Translational regulation of genes in salmonella typhimurium by vitamin B12

    Författare :Solveig Ravnum; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Transational Control; Salmonella typhimurium; Vitamin B12; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis I have studied the mechanism by which vitamin B12 regulates the expression of the cob operon and the btuB gene in Salmonella typhimurium. The cob operon encodes most of the 25 genes required for the de novo synthesis of vitamin B12, and the butB gene encodes the outer membrane protein needed for transport of exogenous vitamin B12 into the cell.
