6. Properties of Protein and Polymer Systems
Sammanfattning : Interactions of proteins with other proteins, with polymers and with surfaces are of great practical importance within for instance protein purification, drug delivery, and food technology. The aim of this work is to increase the understanding of protein-protein, protein-polyelectrolyte, and protein-surface interactions, particularly concerning the role of electrostatic interactions in these systems. 7. Macromolecular Matchmaking : Mechanisms and Biology of Bacterial Small RNAs
Sammanfattning : Cells sense the properties of the surrounding environment and convert this information into changes in gene expression. Bacteria are, in contrast to many multi-cellular eukaryotes, remarkable in their ability to cope with rapid environmental changes and to endure harsh and extreme milieus. LÄS MER
8. Free mica in crushed rock aggregates
Sammanfattning : Free mica particles in crushed rock aggregates for constructional purposes affect the quality of the end product. It is also known that mica-bearing rocks may cause damages of the road constructions, especially in regions with a temperate climate. The negative influence arises in both bounded and unbounded layers. LÄS MER
9. Colour-changing textile coatings containing multi-layered mica pigments : an experimental study
Sammanfattning : This study investigates the possibility of producing angle-dependent colour-changing textiles with thickened polyurethane (PU)-based aqueous dispersion containing multi-layered mica pigments using a direct coating method. Colour changing textile coatings with the latest generation of layered mica pigment (EP) have a promising future for functional purposes such as authentication and aesthetic eye-catching applications. 10. Functional Textile Coatings Containing Flake-shaped Fillers : investigations on selected optical and electrical properties
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates the manufacturing and characterisation of functionalised textile coatings containing different types of flake-shaped fillers with angle-dependent colour-changing and electrically conductive properties, respectively. Common benefits of these types of flakes are their high aspect ratio, which offers low filler loading with high functional performance. LÄS MER
