1. Cerebrum Illuminans : Mass Spectrometric Analysis of Protein and Peptide Dynamics in Neurological Diseases
Sammanfattning : The human brain (lat. cerebrum) is the most complex and heterogeneous organ in the human body. It is involved in a great number of body functions like movement, touch sensing, vision, hearing, smelling, hormone regulation and many more. In no other organ, the molecular communication mechanisms between different cells are so poorly understood. LÄS MER
2. Tailoring Fluorescent Probes for Organelle-Specific Imaging and Sensing
Sammanfattning : Exploring and visualizing biological and pathological processes in living cells are useful for both fundamental research and applications. An understanding on the molecular level for these processes with focus on tracking biomarkers, collecting information about their surroundings, and uncovering essential molecular pathways and functions in live cells are of vital interest for cell biological study and clinical diagnosis application. 3. Capillary electrophoresis mass spectrometry applied to structural proteomics and small molecule analysis
Sammanfattning : Capillary electrophoresis with mass spectrometric (CE–MS) detection offers a separation method without equal in terms of flexibility, utility, and cost efficiency. Here we demonstrate precisely this through the application of several laboratory-built CE–MS instruments for the separation of brain metabolites in non-primates, enantioselective separations of synthetic anesthetic metabolites in fractionated pony urine, application in structural proteomics workflows, and identification of exogenous alkaloid biotransformationproducts in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). 4. Chiral Separation of Amines by Non-Aqueous Capillary Electrophoresis using Low Molecular Weight Selectors
Sammanfattning : Three chiral selectors (diketogulonic acid, benzoxycarbonylglycylproline and ketopinic acid) have been introduced for enantioseparation of pharmacologically active amines in non-aqueous capillary electrophoresis. The use of organic solvents, instead of aqueous buffers in the background electrolyte facilitated ion-pair formation between the analytes and the chiral selectors. LÄS MER
