    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. 2. 2. Second-generation High-Order Harmonic Sources — From CPA to OPCPA

    Författare :Piotr Rudawski; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Optical parametric chirped pulse amplification; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Rudawski; Chirped pulse amplification; High-order harmonic generation; Attosecond pulse;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents two sources of extreme ultraviolet (XUV) radiation based on high-order harmonic generation (HHG) in gases. The sources were developed for experiments requiring high-flux harmonic beams or HHG pulses at high-repetition rate. These were used experimentally to image nano-scale objects. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Scaling and Gating Attosecond Pulse Generation

    Författare :Christoph Heyl; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coherent imaging; Ultrafast electron dynamics; Single attosecond pulses; Attosecond pulse trains; XUV sources; High-order harmonic generation; XUV frequency combs; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Heyl;

    Sammanfattning : High-order harmonic generation (HHG) provides the basis for attosecond light sources delivering coherent pulses in the extreme ultraviolet spectral region. Such light sources are employed for a variety of applications within imaging, attosecond spectroscopy, and high-precision frequency metrology. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Generation of Ultrashort Pulses – From Femtoseconds to Attoseconds

    Författare :Maite Louisy; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :Attosecond; Femtosecond; Ultrashort laser pulses; Ultrafast optics; High-order harmonic generation; extreme ultraviolet; Post-compression; Hollow-core capillary; d-scan; Optical gating; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Louisy;

    Sammanfattning : Electronic dynamics takes place on the attosecond timescale and can thus only be studied using a tool with attosecond temporal resolution. High harmonic generation (HHG) provides coherent attosecond pulses in the extreme ultraviolet spectral region. LÄS MER

  5. 5. An Intense Attosecond Light Source - from Generation to Application

    Författare :Linnea Rading; Atomfysik; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; High-order Harmonic Generation; Intense XUV pulses; Velocity map imaging spectrometer; Fysicumarkivet A:2017:Rading;

    Sammanfattning : Short and intense XUV pulses are important tools to study ultrafast dynamics and non-linear processes in matter. These pulses can be generated by free electron lasers (FELs) or by high-order harmonic generation (HHG), which are two complementary techniques. LÄS MER
