1. Regulation of epithelial morphogenesis in Drosophila by the Emp scavenger receptor
Sammanfattning : The respiratory system of Drosophila melanogaster, the trachea, is widely used as a model system to study the development of branched tubular organs. Airway maturation in Drosophila entails a series of sequential events: first, a massive apical secretion of luminal proteins initiates diametric tube expansion, second an endocytic wave removes luminal proteins and finally liquid clearance and gas filling converts the nascent epithelial tubes to a functional respiratory organ. 2. Protection of Complex Infrastructure Systems against Intentional Electromagnetic Interference
Sammanfattning : In this thesis the effects of, and defense against, antagonistic attacks using Intentional Electromagnetic Interference (IEMI) are treated; especially when targeting infrastructure critical to society (CI).IEMI as a means to disturb or destroy electronic equipment draws its roots from military methods to interrupt or interfere with enemy activities. 3. Malignant glioma : experimental studies with an estrogen-linked cytostatic
Sammanfattning : Malignant gliomas are the most common primary brain tumors in adults. Patients with these highly malignant tumors have an extremely poor prognosis. The situation with a highly proliferative tumor in a non-proliferating tissue should favor cytostatic treatment but so far the role of conventional chemotherapy has been adjunctive. LÄS MER
4. Plasma cell malignancies in Sweden : subgroup descriptions and regional outcomes for multiple myeloma
Sammanfattning : Plasma cell disorders appear in various forms such as aggressive plasma cell leukemia (PCL), typical symptomatic multiple myeloma (MM), non-symptomatic smouldering multiple myeloma (SMM) and solitary plasmacytoma (SP). The different entities all require specific considerations regarding diagnosis and treatment. LÄS MER
5. Cell derived microparticles : method development, and clinical and experimental studies
Sammanfattning : Background: Cell derived microparticles (MP) are released from the cell membrane upon activation or apoptosis. They resemble their parent cell by exposing similar proteins or surface receptors. This enables identification of their cellular origin. LÄS MER
