  1. 1. Speed Choice : The Driver, the Road and Speed Limits

    Författare :Mats Haglund; Nils Petter Gregersen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Driving behaviour; Speed choice; Risk estimates; Enforcement; Attitudes; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Sammanfattning : Speed choice is one of the more characteristic features of driver behaviour. The speed a driver chooses to travel at determines the degree of difficulty he or she operates under. Higher speeds lead to more accidents, higher accident risk and more severe consequences of an accident. LÄS MER

  2. 2. On Physical Relations in Driving: Judgements, Cognition and Perception

    Författare :Gabriella Eriksson; Mäntylä Timo; Ola Svenson; Christopher Patten; Wändi Bruine de Bruin; Statens väg- och transportforskningsinstitut; []
    Nyckelord :SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Driver; Driving veh ; Cognition; Behaviour; Choice; Speed; Fuel consumption; Route itinerary ; Thesis; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; 841 Road: Road user behaviour; Psychology;

    Sammanfattning : Drivers need to make judgements of physical relationships related to driving speed, such as mean speed, risks, travel time and fuel consumption, in order to make optimal choices of vehicle speed. This is also the case for the general public, politicians and other stakeholders who are engaged in traffic issues. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Male moth behaviour and perception in pheromone plumes

    Författare :Peter Valeur; Biologiska institutionen; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Djurekologi; Animal ecology; Grapholita molesta; Noctuidae; Lepidoptera; Tortricidae; behaviour; electrophysiology; single cell; flight tunnel; sex pheromone; wind tunnel; radar; flight; pre-exposure; mechanisms of mating disruption; Agrotis segetum; choice test;

    Sammanfattning : Behaviour of male moths and electrophysiological responses of male pheromone-specific olfactory receptor neurones were studied in two model species, the oriental fruit moth Grapholita molesta and the turnip moth Agrotis segetum. The studies were aimed at elucidating the relative importance of different mating disruption mechanisms. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Stopover behaviour in migratory songbirds: timing, orientation and departures

    Författare :Sissel Sjöberg; Funktionell zoologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; flight duration; orientation; departure timing; stopover behaviour; stopover duration; flight behaviour; reverse migration; route choice; compass calibration; passerines; Bird migration;

    Sammanfattning : Songbird migrants use stopovers between flight bouts to rest and refuel for the upcoming flights. Behaviours affecting where, when and how long to stay at stopover sites will affect how successful the overall migration will be, which has significant consequences for the overall fitness and mortality of the birds. 5. 5. Cryptic Female Choice and Male Mating Behaviour : Sexual Interactions in Beetles

    Författare :Martin Edvardsson; Göran Arnqvist; Paul Ward; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biology; Cryptic female choice; Copulatory courtship; Harmful male traits; Nuptial gifts; Sperm competition; Sexual selection; Tribolium castaneum; Callosobruchus maculatus; Biologi; Biology; Biologi;

    Sammanfattning : The importance of cryptic female choice, i.e. female post-copulatory influence over male reproductive success, in driving the evolution of male traits remains controversial. The main aim of this thesis was to understand the post-copulatory consequences of sexual interactions and the importance of cryptic female choice in two species of beetle. LÄS MER
