    Sammanfattning : Wood used outdoors is often degraded and discoloured by microorganisms as a natural part of its life cycle, particularly when exposed to high levels of moisture for prolonged times.     Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis concerns the preparation, characterization and film formation of a waterborne alkyd-acrylic hybrid system with high solids content of about 80 %. The alkyd-acrylic hybrids were prepared by slowly adding a linseed oil alkyd to an acrylic latex dispersion under stirring. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : The objective of the investigations included in this thesisis to show how the properties of alkyd resins, used as bindersin offset printing inks, affect the ink in terms of pigmentdispersion, emulsification of fountain solution, and inksetting.The interactions between alkyd resins and aqueous solutionshave been investigated by interfacial tension measurementsusing the pendant drop technique and by measurement of dropletsize using light diffraction.     Sammanfattning : Corrosion protection of carbon steel is crucial in today’s world and there is an urgent need to replace the hazardous compounds used with environmentally friendly anticorrosion coatings. In this European collaborative research project, new types of functional composite anticorrosion coatings for steel were developed with properties beyond the state-of-the-art using nanotechnology.
