21. Snow quality in urban areas
Sammanfattning : The studies reported on this thesis aim to provide information and increase knowledge about the quality of urban snow and the path of pollutants. The results develop a basis for decisions regarding the prevention of environmental damage. LÄS MER
22. Road runoff quality in cold climates
Sammanfattning : The main objective of the doctoral thesis was to investigate the complex processes and influencing factors affecting snowmelt-induced runoff and snowmelt quality in a cold climate under wintry conditions compared to non- winter conditions in areas with a warmer climate. In order to improve the understanding and knowledge of road-runoff quantity, quality and pollutant transport, snowmelt and rainfall runoff were studied and characterized in the laboratory and in the field, respectively. 23. Disentangling production and climate signals from high-resolution Beryllium records: implications for solar and geomagnetic reconstructions
Sammanfattning : The sun is the most important energy source for the Earth’s climate system, however, influences of solar variations on climate are not fully understood. Studying past solar activity can improve our understanding of what role the sun plays in Earth’s climate. LÄS MER
24. Born in fire, borne by air : Source attribution and physicochemical characterization of ship and ambient aerosols in the Baltic region
Sammanfattning : Aerosol emissions from anthropogenic activities cause detrimental health effects and affect the climate system. Combustion is a large source of airborne fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and the uncertainties of the climate role of these emissions are still large. LÄS MER
25. Från Döudden till Varghalsen : en studie av kontinuitet och förändring inom ett fångstsamhälle i övre Norrlands inland, 5200 f.Kr. - 400 e.Kr
