16. Integrating trees outside forests into national forest inventories
Sammanfattning : Trees Outside Forests (TOF) offer a wide range of ecological, economic, and social services. For example, they sequester carbon, provide wood for fuel and construction, protect soils from erosion, and contribute to the conservation of biological diversity. LÄS MER
17. Tree inventories in the urban environment : methodological development and new applications
Sammanfattning : Urban tree inventories are being employed to an increasing extent by a diverse group of users for a wide range of applications. This has resulted in large numbers of different parameters being recorded and a variety of methods being used by researchers and practitioners. LÄS MER
18. Urban tree establishment : the impact of nursery production systems and assessment methods
Sammanfattning : The aim of this PhD project was to study tree establishment, both how it may be improved in urban areas and how it is measured and defined. The establishment phase of trees is a period of reduced tree vitality, and a successful establishment is crucial for long-term survival and prosperity of newly planted trees. LÄS MER
19. Forest edge development : management and design of forest edges in infrastructure and urban environments
Sammanfattning : This thesis investigates design guidelines and management systems for the development of stationary forest edges with a graded profile in infrastructure and urban environments. The spatial restriction for the edge to move forward caused by human land use counteracts the natural dynamics and development patterns of graded forest edges. LÄS MER
20. Sustainability performance of blue-green infrastructure across seasons and with various designs
Sammanfattning : The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) affect societal development within multiple sectors, both strategically and at street level. For instance, SDG 6 and SDG 11 have contributed to a shift in urban stormwater management that has traditionally been pipe-based, including only control of runoff volumes, to a more multi-functional nature-based blue-green infrastructure (BGI), where"blue" areas are characterized by (temporarily or permanent) open water and "green" areas by vegetative systems.
