21. Modeling and Tracking of Stochastic Polarization Drifts in Fiber-Optic Systems
Sammanfattning : In the past decade, accessing information has become easier than ever, leading to a rapid growth in popularity of social media, online gaming, and multimedia broadcast systems. These and other services put pressure on the Internet service providers to support high-speed Internet connections and motivate the need for faster communication systems. LÄS MER
22. Modelling Approaches to Molecular Systems Biology
Sammanfattning : Implementation and analysis of mathematical models can serve as a powerful tool in understanding how intracellular processes in bacteria affect the bacterial phenotype. In this thesis I have implemented and analysed models of a number of different parts of the bacterium E. coli in order to understand these types of connections. LÄS MER
23. Housing, Banking and the Macro Economy
Sammanfattning : Essay 1: Expectation-Driven House Prices, Debt Default and Inflation DynamicsWe contribute to the literature on dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models with housing collateral by including shocks to house price expectations. We also incorporate endogenous mortgage defaults that are rarely included in DSGE models with housing collateral. LÄS MER
24. Linking plant population dynamics to the local environment and forest succession
Sammanfattning : Linking environmental variation to population dynamics is necessary to understand and predict how the environment influences species abundances and distributions. I used demographic, environmental and trait data of forest herbs to study effects of spatial variation in environmental factors on populations as well as environmental change in terms of effects of forest succession on field layer plants. 25. Life histories and population dynamics
Sammanfattning : During the last decades there has been a growing interest and attention to random variation in population densities and their causes. It has been shown that even in constant environments (deterministic population growth) the dynamics of populations can display random like behaviour depending on parameter values. LÄS MER
