  1. 16. Cluster investigations of the extent and altitude distribution of the auroral density cavity

    Författare :Love Alm; Göran T. Marklund; Tomas Karlsson; Rickard Lundin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Auroral density cavity; auroral accelaration; Cluster; in situ observation; electron density; pseudo altitude; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The auroral density cavity constitutes the boundary between the cold, dense ionospheric plasma and the hot, tenuous plasma sheet plasma. The auroral density cavity is characterized by low electron density and particle populations modified by parallel electric fields. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Assessment of Computational Methods for Ligand Binding

    Författare :Paulius Mikulskis; Beräkningskemi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; binding affinities; MM GBSA; MM PBSA; LIE; FEP; TI; BAR; protein-ligand complexes; drug design;

    Sammanfattning : Most drugs act on biomacromolecules. The Cost of developing new drugs is very high. A method to accurately predict binding affinities would be very useful. LÄS MER

  3. 18. New Perspectives on Solar Wind-Magnetosphere Coupling

    Författare :Torbjörn Sundberg; Lars Blomberg; Judy Cumnock; Masaki Fujimoto; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; magnetosphere; ionosphere; mercury; kelvin-helmholtz; Electrophysics; Elektrofysik;

    Sammanfattning : The streaming plasma in the solar wind is a never ending source of energy, plasma, and momentum for planetary magnetospheres, and it continuously drives large-scale plasma convection systems in our magnetosphere and over our polar ionosphere. This coupling between the solar wind and the magnetosphere is primarily explained by two different processes: magnetic reconnection at high latitudes, which interconnects the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) with the planetary dipole field, and low-latitude dynamos such as viscous interaction, where the streaming plasma in the solar wind may trigger waves and instabilities at the flanks of the magnetosphere, and thereby allow solar wind plasma to enter into the system. 4. 19. Cosmogenic radionuclides in environmental archives – A paleo-perspective on space climate and a synchronizing tool for climate records

    Författare :Florian Mekhaldi; MERGE: ModElling the Regional and Global Earth system; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Comogenic radionuclides; 10Be; 36Cl; Solar energetic particles; Solar storms; Paleoclimate; Time-scales; Solar activity;

    Sammanfattning : The Sun is the primary source for Earth’s climate system. Its fluctuations in irradiance are also known to have an impact on climate. In addition, changes in solar activity modulate the atmospheric production rates of cosmogenic radionuclides (e.g. LÄS MER
