  1. 1. Exploiting reciprocal space : Electron diffraction, textures and precession

    Författare :Peter Oleynikov; Sven Hovmöller; Xiaodong Zou; Jean-Paul Morniroli; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron crystallography; electron diffraction; texture patterns; precession electron diffraction; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Sammanfattning : Electron crystallography emerges as a new tool for accurate structure determination of very small crystals. In order to exploit the full potential of electron diffraction, the methods for data acquisition and processing have to be developed towards the high standards of X-ray crystallography. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Cluster investigations of the extent and altitude distribution of the auroral density cavity

    Författare :Love Alm; Göran T. Marklund; Tomas Karlsson; Rickard Lundin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Auroral density cavity; auroral accelaration; Cluster; in situ observation; electron density; pseudo altitude; Physics; Fysik;

    Sammanfattning : The auroral density cavity constitutes the boundary between the cold, dense ionospheric plasma and the hot, tenuous plasma sheet plasma. The auroral density cavity is characterized by low electron density and particle populations modified by parallel electric fields. LÄS MER

    Författare :Alexander Edström; Jan Rusz; Olle Eriksson; Patrick Bruno; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetism; Magnetic anisotropy; DFT; Permanent magnets; Electron vortex beams; Electron microscopy; Electron scattering; Multislice methods; Magnetism; magnetisk anisotropi; permanentmagneter; täthetsfunktionalteori; elektronmikroskopi; elektronvirvelstrålar; elektronspridningsteori; Physics with spec. in Atomic; Molecular and Condensed Matter Physics; Fysik med inriktning mot atom- molekyl- och kondenserande materiens fysik;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, two selected topics in magnetism are studied using theoretical modelling and computational methods. The first of these is the magnetocrystalline anisotropy energy (MAE) of transition metal based magnets. In particular, ways of finding 3d transition metal based materials with large MAE are considered. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Graphene Hot-electron Transistors

    Författare :Sam Vaziri; Mikael Östling; Max Lemme; Suman Datta; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :Graphene; hot-electron transistors; graphene base transistors; GBT; cross-plane carrier transport; tunneling; ballistic transport; heterojunction transistors; graphene integration; graphene transfer; Informations- och kommunikationsteknik; Information and Communication Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Graphene base transistors (GBTs) have been, recently, proposed to overcome the intrinsic limitations of the graphene field effect transistors (GFETs) and exploit the graphene unique properties in high frequency (HF) applications. These devices utilize single layer graphene as the base material in the vertical hot-electron transistors. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Electron-lattice dynamics in π-conjugated systems

    Författare :Magnus Hultell (Andersson); Sven Stafström; Alessandro Troisi; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; charge transport; electron-lattice dynamics; polaron; adiabatic transport; electron localization; internal conversion; Computational physics; Beräkningsfysik;

    Sammanfattning : The work presented in this thesis concerns the dynamics in π-conjugated hydrocarbon systems. Due to the molecular bonding structure of these systems there exists a coupling between the electronic system and the phonons of the lattice. LÄS MER
