  1. 1. Shear in Concrete Structural Elements Subjected to Dynamic Loads

    Författare :Johan Magnusson; Anders Ansell; Mikael Hallgren; Richard Malm; Jaap Weerheijm; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Dynamic load; initial response; shear failure; shear capacity; numerical simulations; bond; shear span; support reactions; Dynamisk last; initial respons; skjuvbrott; skjuvkapacitet; numeriska simuleringar; förankring; skjuvspännvidd; upplagsreaktioner; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Concrete structural elements subjected to severe dynamic loads such as explosions at close range may cause shear failures. In the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 two concrete columns on the ground level were reported to have failed in shear. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Assessment of shear and energy‐absorption capacity of reinforced concrete elements under impulsive loads

    Författare :Viktor Peterson; Anders Ansell; Mikael Hallgren; Yanyan Sha; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Impulsive loads; impact; blast; shear reinforcement; shear failure; Betongbyggnad; Concrete Structures;

    Sammanfattning : Impulsive loads have been observed to cause brittle shear failure in reinforced concrete elements designed for ductile failure modes under static loads. Brittle failure modes exhibit poorer energy absorption capabilities compared to ductile flexural failure modes due to their limited deformation capacity, leading to premature failure. LÄS MER

  3. 3. FRP shear strengthening of reinforced concrete beams

    Författare :Gabriel Sas; Giorgio Monti; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fiber reinforced polymers; shear; reinforced concrete; strengthening; model; comparison; literature review; Structural Engineering; Konstruktionsteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The shear failure mechanisms of flexural reinforced concrete (RC) members is highly complex; its precise details cannot be explained with simple analytical relationships, and are the topic of considerable scientific debate. The studies described and examined the three most used shear theories in the world – the fixed angle truss model (45°TM), the variable angle truss model (VAT), and modified compression field theory (MCFT). 4. 4. Shear and Torsion Interaction in Prestressed Hollow Core Slabs

    Författare :Helén Broo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; shear-torsion capacity; hollow core unit; shear and torsion interaction; non-linear finite element analyses; hollow core slab; precast prestressed concrete; hollow core floor;

    Sammanfattning : There are many applications in which hollow core units are subjected to combined torsion and shear, for example in floors supported on three edges and in floors with openings. The traditional calculation method for combined shear and torsion in hollow-core units adds stresses from various sources without taking into account deformations and compatibility within the unit or restraint at the boundaries. 5. 5. Shear and Torsion in Concrete Structures Non-linear Finte Element Analysis in Design and Assessment

    Författare :Helén Broo; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; torsion; box-girder bridge; hollow core unit; hollow core floor; non-linear finite element analysis.; shear; prestressed concrete; Reinforced concrete;

    Sammanfattning : For structural design and assessment of reinforced concrete members, non-linear finite element analysis has become an important tool. However, design and assessment of shear and torsion are still done with simplified analytical or empirical design methods. LÄS MER
