1. Shear in Concrete Structural Elements Subjected to Dynamic Loads
Sammanfattning : Concrete structural elements subjected to severe dynamic loads such as explosions at close range may cause shear failures. In the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 two concrete columns on the ground level were reported to have failed in shear. LÄS MER
2. Assessment of shear and energy‐absorption capacity of reinforced concrete elements under impulsive loads
Sammanfattning : Impulsive loads have been observed to cause brittle shear failure in reinforced concrete elements designed for ductile failure modes under static loads. Brittle failure modes exhibit poorer energy absorption capabilities compared to ductile flexural failure modes due to their limited deformation capacity, leading to premature failure. LÄS MER
3. Footwall stability in SLC mining
Sammanfattning : This thesis is based on a case study of the Kiirunavaara sublevel cave (SLC) mine. It focuses on footwall stability and damage development in the mining infrastructure on mine scale. Damage to the infrastructure is mappable for the full height of the footwall by access through decommissioned infrastructure associated with earlier mining stages. LÄS MER
4. Load-carrying capacity of a strengthened reinforced concrete bridge : Non-linear finite element modeling of a test to failure. Assessment of train load capacity of a two span railway trough bridge in Örnsköldsvik strengthened with bars of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers (CFRP)
Sammanfattning : To meet the future traffic demands there is a constant need of making the infrastructure moreeffective. This can be achieved by increasing the capacity and/or life length of traffic lines. LÄS MER
5. Ground Improvement by Dry Deep Mixing Lime-Cement Column Panels as Excavation Support
Sammanfattning : Many urban areas near the coastal regions of Sweden are characterized by post-glacial clay deposits with very low undrained shear strength and high compressibility. Column type ground improvement by the Deep Mixing, DM, method using a binder mixture of lime and cement is commonly used in areas with poor soil conditions due to its cost-effectiveness, predominantly for settlement reduction and to improve the stability of embankments.
