11. Prognostic factors for squamous cell cervical cancer : tumor markers, hormones, smoking, and S-phase fraction
Sammanfattning : Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy in women worldwide and one of the leading causes of cancer mortality globally. In patients with invasive cervical cancer prognostic factors are of value for the choice of treatment, monitoring of treatment and follow-up. LÄS MER
12. Prognostic markers in acute myeloid leukemia : A candidate gene approach
Sammanfattning : The standard treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) consists of induction chemotherapy, most commonly daunorubicin together with the nucleoside analogue cytarabine (Ara-C), followed by consolidation chemotherapy and in selected cases allogenic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). Despite a high initial response rate, a considerable proportion of all AML cases eventually suffer from relapse and the five-year overall survival rate in patients >60 years is only around 15%. 13. Diagnostic and prognostic markers in sepsis
Sammanfattning : Sepsis is a life-threatening disease affecting millions of people globally. The more severe forms are considered to be a consequence of an unbalanced systemic inflammatory response to infection, causing organ dysfunction, vascular leakage and hypotension. An early diagnosis followed by appropriate antimicrobial therapy is critical for the outcome. LÄS MER
14. Prognostic molecular markers of childhood leukemia
Sammanfattning : During the last decades there has been a dramatic increase in survival rates for childhood leukemia, resulting today in an overall survival close to 90 % for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). This accomplishment is largely due to treatment protocols based on careful risk group assessment guiding the type and intensity of the anti-leukemic treatment. LÄS MER
15. Molecular Markers and Hypoxia in Renal Cell Carcinoma
Sammanfattning : Renal cell carcinomas (RCCs) are a group of tumours that arise from the nephron within the kidney. They are characterised by an indolent growth pattern and do not display overt clinical symptoms in patients with early to locally advanced tumours. LÄS MER
