11. Material properties related to fire spalling of concrete
Sammanfattning : Despite almost 100 years of research, the fundamentals of fire spalling of concrete are not yet fully understood. Many different theories exist, each trying to describe the coupling between different phenomenon leading to fire spalling. Some of these phenomenon have been investigated and are presented in this thesis. LÄS MER
12. Dendrimers : Synthesis, Characterization and Use in Thiol-Ene Networks
Sammanfattning : Dendrimers are perfectly branched, well-defined macromolecules with a layered structure and a large amount of peripheral end groups. The high functionality in combination with the possibility of dendrimers to adopt a globular shape at high molecular weights, gives them very unique properties. LÄS MER
13. Nonstoichiometric Multicomponent Nitride Thin Films
Sammanfattning : High entropy ceramics have rapidly developed as a class of materials based on high entropy alloys; the latter being materials that contain five or more elements in near-equal proportions. Their unconventional compositions and chemical structures hold promise for achieving unprecedented combinations of mechanical, electrical and chemical properties. LÄS MER
14. Paleoenvironmental significance of Baltic and North Atlantic late neogene benthic foraminifera
Sammanfattning : This thesis is a summary of six previously published or submitted articles on (1) the significance of the geographic distribution of Recent benthic foraminifera in the Baltic Sea and the central North Atlantic, and (2) the significance of the stratigraphic distribution of Pliocene benthic foraminifera from the Blake Plateau, western North Atlantic.Recent benthic foraminifera in the Baltic Sea have a geographic distribution strongly correlated to the highly variable hydrographical conditions. 15. Unraveling the thermohaline structure of the Southern Ocean using functional data analysis
Sammanfattning : The Southern Ocean connects the Indian, Pacific and Atlantic Oceans and provides a direct pathway to exchange mass, heat and salt across the Global Ocean, therefore playing an important role in the global climate system. Due to the complexity of its structure and the general inadequacy of its sampling, both in time and space, it remains a challenge to describe and visualize the three dimensional pattern of its circulation and the associated tracer distribution (temperature, salinity, oxygen or nutrients).
