  1. 1. Furnace Wall Corrosion in a Wood-fired Boiler

    Författare :Yousef Alipour; Pamela Henderson; Mikko Hupa; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High Temperature Corrosion; Used-wood Fired Boilers; Furnace Wall Corrosion; Cl-induced Corrosion; 16Mo3; Nickel-based Alloys; FeCrAl Alloys; Fuel Additive; Sewage Sludge; >Thermodynamics Modelling; Högtemperaturkorrosion; Returträ Förbränningspannor; Eldstad Korrosion; klor-inducerad korrosion; 16Mo3; Nickelbaslegeringar; FeCrAl-legeringar; Bränsletillsatser; Avloppsslam; Termodynamik Modellering; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : The use of renewable wood-based fuel has been increasing in the last few decades because it is said to be carbon neutral. However, wood-based fuel, and especially used wood (also known as recycled wood or waste wood), is more corrosive than virgin wood (forest fuel), because of higher amounts of chlorine and heavy metals. 2. 2. Corrosion of Ferritic Stainless Steels Used in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

    Författare :Claudia Goebel; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SOFC; Corrosion; Dual Atmosphere; Interconnect; Area Specific Resistance;

    Sammanfattning : Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) are energy conversion systems with clean emissions (depending on the fuel used) and high electrical efficiencies, which could potentially replace conventional conversion systems such as combustion engines. However, other issues, such as high costs and limited lifetime, must be resolved before widespread commercialization of SOFCs can be achieved. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Decreased furnace wall corrosion in fluidised bed boilers - The influence of fuel lead content and sewage sludge additive

    Författare :Annika Talus; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; demolition-wood; alkali chlorides; Furnace wall corrosion; lead oxide; used-wood; salt melt; lead oxychloride; sewage sludge; chlorine-induced corrosion;

    Sammanfattning : Usage of used-wood fuel in the power industry has resulted in increased corrosion problems for metallic materials in the boilers, most probably due to relatively high amounts of chlorine, alkali metals and heavy metals present in the fuel.In this investigation, laboratory exposures were performed in order to study the influence of lead content in a wood-based fuel on the corrosion of selected materials. 4. 4. On the estrablishment of effective condition monitoring parameters for copper corrosion problems in mineral oil-filled electrical transformers

    Författare :Ramsey Jadim; Mirka Kans; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; condition monitoring parameters; corrosion problems; sulfur deposits; corrosion reaction mechanisms; transformer failures; CBM.; Maskinteknik; Mechanical Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The power transformer is a critical equipment in which the protection process is essential for modern societies where continuous electric power supplies are required. Copper corrosion problems due to the formation of sulfur deposits on the copper windings of mineral oil-filled power transformers are considered a major issue that can lead to sudden failures, and in some cases, to costly fire and explosion accidents in the power plants. 5. 5. High-Temperature Corrosion Chemistry in Oxy-Fuel Combustion

    Författare :Thomas Ekvall; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Sammanfattning : Drastic cuts in global CO2 emissions are needed to mitigate the global warming if limiting global warming to 2ºC. The power generation sector is largely based on fossil fuels and produces a significant share of the global CO2 emissions. LÄS MER
