11. On reflections of wood : wood quality features modelled by means of multivariate image projections to latent structures in multispectral images
Sammanfattning : Classifying logs and boards has an essential economic impact on the forest products industry. In a modern production chain, quality control and raw material specifications are essential to fulfill production system demands as well as end user demands. LÄS MER
12. Developing affordable high-throughput plant phenotyping methods for breeding of cereals and tuber crops
Sammanfattning : High-throughput plant phenotyping (HTPP) is a fast, accurate, and non-destructive process for evaluating plants' health and environmental adaptability. HTPP accelerates the identification of agronomic traits of interest, eliminates subjectivism (which is innate to humans), and facilitates the development of adapted genotypes. LÄS MER
13. Detection and Depth Sounding of Small Targets with Airborne Laser Bathymetry
Sammanfattning : The subject of this thesis is an investigation of the potential for detecting small targets (size about 1 m3) with airborne scanning laser depth sounding. Examples of other optical techniques of interest for small target detection are: range gated imaging, polarized detection and passive multispectral imaging. LÄS MER
14. Supervised and Unsupervised Deep Learning Models for Flood Detection
Sammanfattning : Human civilization has an increasingly powerful influence on the earthsystem. Affected by climate change and land-use change, floods are occurringacross the globe and are expected to increase in the coming years. Currentsituations urge more focus on efficient monitoring of floods and detecting impactedareas. LÄS MER
15. Large-Scale Multi-Source Satellite Data for Wildfire Detection and Assessment Using Deep Learning
Sammanfattning : Earth Observation (EO) satellites have great potential in wildfire detection and assessment at fine spatial, temporal, and spectral resolutions. For a long time, satellite data have been employed to systematically monitor wildfire dynamics and assess wildfire impacts, including (i) to detect the location of actively burning spots, (ii) to map the spatial extent of the burn scars, (iii) to assess the wildfire damage levels.
