  1. 1. Iron in Haem Biosynthesis. Structural Studies of Ferrochelatase and Frataxin

    Författare :Tobias Karlberg; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Naturvetenskap; Natural science; Molekylär biofysik; Molecular biophysics; Biomedicinska vetenskaper; Biomedical sciences; protein crystallography; ferrochelatase; haem biosynthesis; iron; frataxin;

    Sammanfattning : Ferrochelatase catalyses the synthesis of heme by inserting Fe(II) into protoporphyrin IX. The structure of ferrochelatase from yeast has been determined (2.4 Å). The structure is homodimeric with each of the monomer made up of two Rossmann type domains with an active-site cleft between them. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Expression and Function of Human and Plant Aquaporins

    Författare :Maria Agemark; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; aquaporin; water channel; overexpression; Pichia pastoris; AQP8; AQP5; SoPIP2; 1;

    Sammanfattning : The aquaporins (AQPs) belong to a family of water permeable membrane channels found in virtually all living organisms. Thirteen isoforms of mammalian AQPs are found, whereas in Arabidopsis thaliana 35 genes encoding AQPs are found. The AQPs are distributed in different organs, cell types and in different subcellular membranes. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Crystallographic studies on porphyrin metallation by ferrochelatase

    Författare :David Lecerof; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thermal and mechanical properties; Condensed matter:stucture; fasjämvikt; kristallografi; egenskaper termiska och mekaniska ; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:struktur; crystallography; phase equilibria; Magnesium; pi-helix; Zinc; ferrochelatase; Metal binding; porphyrin metallation;

    Sammanfattning : Ferrochelatase catalyses the terminal step in heme biosynthesis by inserting a ferrous ion into protoporphyrin IX. The reaction mechanism has in this thesis been studied by mainly crystallographic methods. LÄS MER
