However, the disease has often progressed well beyond the point of no return once radiographic cartilage changes become visible. LÄS MER
17. Altered movement patterns and deviating muscular activity in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament injury
Sammanfattning : The purpose of this thesis was to increase the understanding of altered movement patterns in individuals with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in order to improve ACL rehabilitation, and to develop an observational instrument termed Test for Substitution Patterns (TSP) for standardized, quantifiable scoring of altered movement patterns in legs and trunk. In all, 142 participants, 93 with ACL-rupture (37 women) and 49 uninjured participants were investigated. LÄS MER

19. Predictors of Complications after Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury
Sammanfattning : BACKGROUND: An anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear is a serious knee injury that frequently affects young individuals active in soccer, alpine skiing, handball and basketball. Regardless of treatment, an ACL injury is associated with an increased risk of complications in the short and long term, such as meniscal and chondral injuries or a need to undergo surgery on the injured knee or the contralateral knee. 20. Knee function, movement pattern and knee osteoarthritis in males 14-16 years after an anterior cruciate ligament injury
Sammanfattning : The overall aim of this work was to study knee function movement pattern and knee osteoarthritis in males 14-16 years after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury. In the first study, 154 male subjects with a 14-year-old ACL injury were investigated. Self-reported knee function and radiographic signs of osteoarthritis were assessed. LÄS MER
