23. Quaternary paleoceanography of the Arctic Ocean : A study of sediment stratigraphy and physical properties
Sammanfattning : A Quaternary perspective on the paleoceanographic evolution of the central Arctic Ocean has been obtained in this PhD thesis by studying sediment cores from all of the Arctic’s major submarine ridges and plateaus. The included cores were mainly recovered during the Healy-Oden Trans-Arctic expedition in 2005 and the Lomonosov Ridge off Greenland expedition in 2007. LÄS MER
24. Star clusters as engines of galaxy evolution
Sammanfattning : Feedback in star forming galaxies is the key process that regulates how many stars form given the available gas reservoir. The radiation, energy and momentum released by the stellar activity and the active galactic nuclei change the physical properties of the gas in the galaxy such as the ionisation state, the density and the kinematics. 25. Cost optimization of maintenance scheduling for wind turbines with aging components
Sammanfattning : A major part of the wind turbine operation cost is resulted from the maintenance of its components. This thesis deals with the theory, algorithms, and applications concerning minimization of the maintenance cost of wind power turbines, using mathematical modelling to find the optimal schedules of preventive maintenance activities for multi-component systems.
