  1. 1. Hyperbaric oxygen. Effects on ischemia-reperfusion

    Författare :Johan Tjärnström; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :fibrinolysis; f-MLP; human; hyperbaric oxygen; neutrophils; normobaric; PAI-1; PMA; rat; t-PA; trauma; uPA;

    Sammanfattning : Treatment with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO2) is controversial when treating other disorders than decompression sickness. However, HBO2 is a treatment modality that has gained recognition in certain ischemia-reperfusion situations. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Hyperbaric oxygen treatment for pelvic radiation-induced injuries. From a multicenter randomized controlled trial to an experimental cell model

    Författare :Nicklas Oscarsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hyperbaric oxygen treatment; hyperbaric oxygen; late radiation-induced injury; cystitis; proctitis; reactive oxygen species; radiation therapy; quality of life;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction Cancer is affecting a growing number of persons. Still, the treatment and survival of cancer is improving. Radiation therapy is used in the treatment of cancer. Late radiation-induced injuries afflict 5–15% of irradiated patients. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Surviving under water : Physiological limitations and technical possibilities

    Författare :Mårten Silvanius; Oskar Frånberg; Rachel Lance; Blekinge Tekniska Högskola; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Diving; diving apparatus; unmanned testing; hyperbaric; scuba; oxygen sensor; composite gas cylinder; carbon dioxide monitoring; decompression; hyperbaric oxygen therapy; Systemteknik; Systems Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The survival of humans in underwater environments necessitates a comprehensive understanding of both physiological factors and advanced technologies. Diving with self-contained underwater breathing apparatuses (SCUBA) remains one of the most common ways for human underwater activities. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Redox effects on neutrophils in wound healing conducted by wound dressings and hyperbaric oxygen

    Författare :Herman Sahlin; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :neutrophil granulocyte; wound healing; wound dressing; reactive oxygen species; NO; hyperbaric oxygen; bacterial killing;

    Sammanfattning : The increased influx of neutrophils into chronic wounds results in increased production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), nitric oxide (NO) and lipid peroxidation products (LPP), as well as a ROS-induced increase in protease levels. The NO and LPP impair the respiratory burst response of the neutrophils and reduce their capacity to kill bacteria and digest debris. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as adjunctive treatment of chronic diabetic foot ulcers

    Författare :Magnus Löndahl; Lund Medicin; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; hyperbaric oxygen therapy; Diabetes Mellitus; foot ulcer; HRQL; cardiac function;

    Sammanfattning : Chronic diabetic foot ulcers are a source of major concern for both patients and health care systems. Oxygen deficiency plays a major role in the pathogenesis of these ulcers. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) has been proposed as a medical treatment for diabetic foot ulcers, but the clinical utility has not been established. LÄS MER
