21. Modelling of laser plasma interaction with applications to particle acceleration and radiation generation
Sammanfattning : The development of laser systems with ultra-high intensities has allowed the study of the relativistic interaction of laser light and ionized matter, plasmas, as well as opened up prospects for compact particle accelerators, generation of high intensity X-ray, XUV radiation, and probing QED-effects, which are present in the high intensity regime. To describe laser matter interaction, it is necessary to self-consistently account for the paths of a large number of particles and the corresponding electromagnetic fields, with the addition of stochastic effects at high laser intensities. 22. Generation, Modulation, and Detection of Signals in Microwave Photonic Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with the use of photonic technology in microwave and millimeter-wave applications. The two major parts of this work have been techniques for transmission and signal generation. LÄS MER
23. Heterostructure Diodes for Millimeter Wave Power Generation
Sammanfattning : This thesis deals with two types of heterostructure diodes namely the Resonant Tunneling Diode (RTD) and the Single barrier varactor diode (SBV). The RTD is a device for high frequency generation either as a negative reistance oscillators or as a multiplier. Different means to reach high frequencies are outlined. LÄS MER
24. High-Order Harmonics- Characterisation, Optimisation and Applications
Sammanfattning : Recent advances in laser technology, with the development of extremely short-pulse, high-intensity lasers, have opened doors to new areas in atomic physics. By focusing light from an intense, short-pulse laser into a gas jet, the emission of high-order harmonics of the laser frequency has been studied. LÄS MER
25. Non-linear attosecond physics at 100 eV
Sammanfattning : Non-linear interactions between light and matter have nowadays a broad range of applications. They are used for frequency doubling in simple laser pointers as well as for a variety of purposes in complex laser systems like the one presented in this thesis. LÄS MER
