6. Crustacean immunity : Characterization of some crayfish blood proteins
Sammanfattning : The cDNA sequence and some properties of a previously purified #x03B2;-1,3-glucan binding protein are reported here. The putative amino acid sequence (predicted molecular mass: 152 kDa) of the protein did not show any significant similarity to any known protein, but an RGD motif and a region with slight similarity to bacterial glucanase was found. 7. Detection of donor cells in recipient tissues after stem cell transplantation using FISH and immunophenotyping
Sammanfattning : Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is curative therapy for many malignant and non-malignant diseases. Effective conditioning regimen is an important component of HSCT in order to achieve a successful engraftment and to pursue a curative treatment. Conditioning regimens consist of chemotherapy with or without total body irradiation. LÄS MER
8. Growth hormone, JAKs and STATs : a model cytokine signal transduction system
Sammanfattning : The haematopoietic cytokine family of signalling molecules comprises a variety of polypeptides which have pleiotropic effects on cell differentiation, tissue development and homeostasis. The family includes several interleukins, a variety of growth and colony stimulating factors, erythropoietin, leukaemia inhibitory factor, ciliary neurotrophic factor, the interferons, as well as leptin, prolactin and growth hormone. 9. Endothelial cells : dysfunction and repair mechanisms
Sammanfattning : Endothelial cells (ECs) are crucial component of the normal vascular wall, providing an interface between the bloodstream and surrounding tissue of the blood vessel wall. Endothelial progenitors cells (EPCs) circulate in the blood and migrate to regions of the circulatory system with injured endothelium and ischemic tissues. LÄS MER
10. The diverse role of laminin isoforms in neuronal cells, human mast cells and blood platelets
Sammanfattning : The close interaction of cells with other cells and with extracellular matrix (ECM) components is a prerequisite in a number of biological activities. During development of the nervous system, axons often navigate a considerable distance depending on the type of molecular factors they encounter. LÄS MER
