17. Realization of Complex III-V Nanoscale Heterostructures
Sammanfattning : Low-dimensional III-V semiconductor nanoscale structures grown by epitaxial processes have emerged as a new class of materials with great promise for various device applications. This thesis describes explorations into the heteroepitaxial growth of III-V semiconductor materials in combination with other III-V materials and in combination with the commonly used Si material, in both thin layer and nanowire geometries. 18. Biomimetic Formation of Calcium Phosphate Based Nanomaterials
Sammanfattning : The intercellular material in bone is a nanocomposite of aligned “hard” inorganics—calcium phosphate (CaP) platelets embedded in the long-range ordered “soft” organic collagen matrix. This elaborate structural arrangement redeems the weaknesses of the individual components (being soft protein or brittle mineral) and gives bone its excellent mechanical properties for the protection and support of our bodies. 19. Photochemical and Photoelectric Applications of II-VI Semiconductor Nanomaterials
Sammanfattning : In this work we investigated fabrication of semiconductor nanomaterials and evaluated their potential for photo-chemical and photovoltaic applications. We investigated two different II-VI semiconductor nanomaterial systems; (i) ZnO oriented nanowire arrays non-epitaxially grown from a substrate; and (ii) colloidal CdTe nanotetrapods synthesized by solution-based thermal decomposition of organo-metallic precursors.
