16. Catalytic reactions and hydrogen sensing with Pt- and Pd-MIS devices
Sammanfattning : The hydrogen sensitivity of catalytic metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) devices has been known for almost 30 years [1,2]. With Pd or Pt as the metal gate the electronic properties of the device are influenced by hydrogen and the device can thereby be used as a gas sensor for hydrogen and hydrogen containing gases. 17. Thermal and Photon Driven Reactions of NO and H2O Adsorbed on Graphite
Sammanfattning : The topic of this thesis is the interaction of water (H2O) and nitric oxide (NO) with the graphite (C(0001)) surface. Specifically the effects of coadsorbing metals (Na, Ag) and subjecting the adsorption systems to thermal and photon activation were studied. LÄS MER
18. Mechanistic investigations of chemical reactions on 2D MXenes and metal surfaces from first-principles
Sammanfattning : Chemical reactions on surfaces play a central role both for our daily life and industrial purposes, including the storage and release of energy, as well as the formation of new materials. To achieve high efficiency, catalysis lies in the heart of chemical reactions as it plays a critical role in accelerating the chemical transformation to target products. LÄS MER
19. Studies of structural transitions in trimetal pentoxides of titanium and vanadium : from the growth of pure single-crystals to critical phenomena at the transition points
Sammanfattning : The growth of highly pure single crystals of titanium (Ti2O3-TiO2) and vanadium (V203-V205) oxides by chemical transport reactions with TeCl4 as a transport medium is discussed. The chemical transport mechanisms, transport rates and oxidation states of the transported crystals in the titanium and vanadium oxide systems are compared. LÄS MER
20. Momentum-space dynamics of runaway electrons in plasmas
Sammanfattning : Fast electrons in a plasma experience a friction force that decreases with increasing particle speed, and may therefore be continuously accelerated by sufficiently strong electric fields. These so-called runaway electrons may quickly reach relativistic speeds. LÄS MER
