  1. 16. The Primary Structural Photo-Response of a Bacterial Phytochrome Probed by Serial Femtosecond Crystallography

    Författare :Elin Claesson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photoreceptors; Phytochromes; SFX;

    Sammanfattning : Species across all kingdoms of life rely on the ability to sense different light conditions. Some organisms convert light into chemical energy via the reactions involved in photosynthesis, whereas others use it to trigger cellular signals. The group of proteins that are responsible for light perception are called photoreceptor proteins. LÄS MER

  2. 17. Escape from the cage: Ultrafast structural dynamics of photodissociation reactions observed with X-ray solution scattering

    Författare :Amke Nimmrich; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : The environment of a molecule is known to greatly impact the course of a reaction. Such an environment can, for instance, be the solvent in a solution phase reaction or the amino acid residues surrounding a chromophore in photoreceptor proteins. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Conformational Dynamics of Rhodopsins Visualized by Time-resolved Wide Angle X-ray Scattering

    Författare :Erik Malmerberg; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Time-resolved wide Angle X-ray Scattering; Retinylidene proteins; Rhodopsin; Bacteriorhodopsin; Proteorhodopsin;

    Sammanfattning : Rhodopsins are a family of light-sensitive proteins found in the cellular membranes of a wide range of living organisms. These membrane proteins share a common molecular architecture and are able to use light energy to perform a variety of different biological functions. LÄS MER

  4. 19. Structural and evolutionary studies of a lipocalin: the alpha1-microglobulin protein and its gene

    Författare :Annika Lindqvist; Institutionen för experimentell medicinsk vetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; embryology human ; ontogeny; teratology; AMBP; Development biology; protein HC; bikunin; Utvecklingsbiologi; teratologi; embryologi människa ; Genetics; cytogenetics; Genetik; cytogenetik;

    Sammanfattning : a1-microglobulin is a small glycoprotein present in plasma and in tissues surrounding the gastrointestinal and respiratory tracts. a1-microglobulin is a member of the lipocalin protein family and exhibits several of the typical traits of a lipocalin; it binds an unknown ligand which causes the brown color of the protein, it forms complexes with various different proteins and there have been indications of the presence of a receptor for a1-microglobulin on T-lymphocytes. 5. 20. Quantitative diffuse reflectance spectroscopy : myocardial oxygen transport from vessel to mitochondria

    Författare :Tobias Lindbergh; Tomas Strömberg; Henrik Ahn; Marcus Larsson; Lise Lyngsnes Randeberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Sammanfattning : In the field of biomedical optics, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) is a frequently used technique for obtaining information about the optical properties of the medium under investigation. The method utilizes spectral difference between incident and backscattered light intensity for quantifying the underlying absorption and scattering processes that affects the light-medium interaction.
