26. Speciation and Transport of Radionuclides from the Chernobyl Accident within the Gideå Site
Sammanfattning : The transport and redistribution of radionuclides originating from the Chernobyl accident were studied within a 1 km2 area in the northeastern part of Sweden (the Gideå site). Physical and chemical speciation of the fallout radionuclides were investigated on water samples collected within the study site using techniques developed especially for this purpose. LÄS MER
27. Sulfur-Related Conservation Concerns in Marine Archaeological Wood : The Origin, Speciation and Distribution of Accumulated Sulfur with Some Remedies for the Vasa
Sammanfattning : Synchrotron-based sulfur spectroscopy reveals a common concern for marine archaeological wood from seawater: accumulation of reduced sulfur compounds in two pathways. The distribution of sulfur species in the oak wood cell structure was mapped by scanning x-ray spectro-microscopy (SXM). LÄS MER
28. Passive sampling for monitoring of inorganic pollutants in water
Sammanfattning : As new environmental management policies for watersheds are implemented, there has been a growing interest for new monitoring alternatives. Traditionally grab sampling has been the method of choice for monitoring purposes, but may not be adequate or economically viable, to meet the requirements of the new policies. LÄS MER
29. Antivirulent and antibiofilm salicylidene acylhydrazide complexes in solution and at interfaces
Sammanfattning : The growing bacterial resistance against antibiotics creates a limitation for using traditional antibiotics and requests development of new approaches for treatment of bacterial infections. Among the bacterial infections that are most difficult to treat, biofilm-associated infections are one of the most hazardous. LÄS MER
30. Mercury species transformations in marine and biological systems studied by isotope dilution mass spectrometry and stable isotope tracers
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on the implementation of species-specific isotope dilution (SSID) methodology and stable isotope tracers to determine mercury species occurrence and transformation processes in-situ and during sample treatment. Isotope enriched tracers of methyl-, ethyl- and inorganic mercury were synthesised and applied in different combinations to marine and biological samples. LÄS MER
