  1. 1. Biomass gasification in ABFB : Tar mitigation

    Författare :Nemanova Vera; Klas Engvall; Joan Salvadó; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Ash; biomass; char; gasification; iron-based; petcoke; tar; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Biomass gasification may be an attractive alternative for meeting future energy demand. Although gasification is a mature technology, it has yet to be fully commercialised due to tar formation. This study focuses on the tar mitigation in gas produced in an atmospheric bubbling fluidised bed (ABFB) gasification system. LÄS MER

  2. 2. From torrefaction to gasification : Pilot scale studies for upgrading of biomass

    Författare :Martin Strandberg; Anders Nordin; Linda Pommer; Jaap Kiel; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Torrefaction; biomass; pilot scale; continuous reactor; grindability; entrained flow gasification; degree of torrefaction; biomass powder;

    Sammanfattning : Increasing the share of biomass, preferably by replacing fossil fuels, is one way to mitigate the present climate change. Fossil coal can be directly replaced by co-combustion of coal and biomass and fossil engine fuels (gasoline and diesel) could potentially partly be replaced by synthetic renewable fuels produced via entrained flow gasification of biomass. 3. 3. Ash Behavior in Fluidized-Bed Combustion and Gasification of Biomass and Waste Fuels : Experimental and Modeling Approach

    Författare :Farzad Moradian; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fluidized-bed; combustion; gasification; waste-derived fuels; biomass; ash-related problems; deposit; fouling; slagging; bed agglomeration; thermodynamic equilibrium modeling;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past few decades, a growing interest in the thermal conversion of alternative fuels such as biomass and waste-derived fuels has been observed among the energy-producing companies. Apart from meeting the increasing demand for sustainable heat and power production, other advantages such as reducing global warming and ameliorating landfilling issues have been identified. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Particle dynamics during biomass devolatilization : Momentum exchange and particle dispersion

    Författare :Angel David Garcia Llamas; Kentaro Umeki; Rikard Gebart; Per Gren; Peter Glarborg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; devolatilization; rocketing; PIV; PTV; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Devolatilization is a heat-driven thermochemical process in which a liquid or a solid fuel releases mass in the form of volatile compounds after drying, as a result of the combination of endothermic and exothermic reactions. It differs from pyrolysis in that it does not require an inert atmosphere and that the reactant must be either solid or liquid. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Refractory corrosion in biomass gasification

    Författare :Markus Carlborg; Rainer Backman; Dan Boström; Ragnhild Aune; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Refractory corrosion; slag; biomass; gasification; Materials Science; materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : To stop the net emission of CO2 to the atmosphere, we need to reduce our dependency of fossil fuels. Although a switch to a bio-based feedstock hardly can replace the total amount of fossils used today, utilization of biomass does still have a role in a future in combination with other techniques.
