  1. 31. Chiral recognition on cellulases : The active sites of the enzymes are involved

    Författare :Hongbin Henriksson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Biochemistry; Biokemi; Biochemistry; Biokemi; biokemi; Biochemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Two cellobiohydrolases (CBH I and CBH II) and endoglucanase I (EG I) fromTrichoderma reesei, and CBH 58 from Phanerochaete chrysosporium were immobilized onsilica as chiral stationary phases (CSPs) in HPLC for enantioseparation of a group ofpharmaceutical compounds. CBH I and CBH 58 wore excellent chiral selectors for β-adrenergic blocking agents, whereas CBH II displayed good enantioselectivity for someother compounds The CBHs share the common feature that their active sites are located intunnels. 2. 32. Studies on nuclear factor 1 binding to nucleosomal DNA

    Författare :Patrik Blomquist; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Nyckelord :nuclear factor 1; nucleosome; glucocorticoid receptor; triplex DNA; the SWISNF complex; A-tracts; MMTV LTR;

    Sammanfattning : The organisation of DNA into chromatin will influence on transcriptional regulation. The first event in transcriptional activation is the binding of transcription factors to specific binding sites in the regulatory regions of the gene. LÄS MER

  3. 33. Studies of Carbohydrate-Binding Proteins from Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli

    Författare :Lena Jansson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Carbohydrate recognition; ETEC colonization factors; CFA I fimbriae; CS6 protein; heat-labile enterotoxin;

    Sammanfattning : Knowledge about the carbohydrate binding specificity of pathogens can give an increased understanding of their virulence strategies, and is also of importance for the development of anti-adhesive therapies and vaccines. Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is a well-known causative agent of diarrheal disease. LÄS MER

  5. 35. Structural Studies of Echinococcus granulosus Fatty-acid-binding Protein 1 and Human Semicarbazide-sensitive Amine Oxidase

    Författare :Emma Jakobsson; Gerard Kleywegt; Andrea Mattevi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase; vascular adhesion protein-1; copper-containing amine oxidase; fatty-acid-binding protein; Echinococcus granulosus; crystal structure; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Sammanfattning : The parasite Echinococcus granulosus causes hydatid disease, a major zoonosis. A fatty-acid-binding protein, EgFABP1, is important for the parasite, as it must acquire almost all its lipids from its environment or the host. The structure of EgFABP1 has been solved and refined to 1.6 Å resolution. LÄS MER
