11. Numerical computations of the unsteady flow in a radial turbine
Sammanfattning : Non-pulsatile and pulsatile flow in bent pipes and radial turbine has been assessed with numerical simulations. The flow field in a single bent pipe has been computed with different turbulence modelling approaches. LÄS MER
12. 1D engine simulation of a turbocharged SI engine with CFD computation on components
Sammanfattning : Techniques that can increase the SI- engine efficiency while keeping the emissions very low is to reduce the engine displacement volume combined with a charging system. Advanced systems are needed for an effective boosting of the engine and today 1D engine simulation tools are often used for their optimization. LÄS MER
13. Fluid structure interactiontesting, modelling and development of Passive Adaptive Composite foils
Sammanfattning : High performance foiling catamarans are one of the fastest growing sectors in the sailing and sport industries, allowing athletes to perform in extremely fast and spectacular boats. These boats fly above the water with the aid of foils that not only provide horizontal side-force to counterbalance the aerodynamic forces from the sails, but also deliver vertical force that supports some or all of the mass of the boat. 14. Vortices in turbulent curved pipe flow-rocking, rolling and pulsating motions
Sammanfattning : This thesis is motivated by the necessity to understand the flow structure of turbulent flows in bends encountered in many technical applications such as heat exchangers, nuclear reactors and internal combustion engines. Flows in bends are characterised by strong secondary motions in terms of counter-rotating vortices (Dean cells) set up by a centrifugal instability. LÄS MER
15. Electronic Structure and Transport in Nanofabricated Low-Dimensional Semiconductor Systems : A theoretical study
Sammanfattning : Systematic studies of the transport properties in one type of low-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures, in which the motion of carriers is governed by quantum mechanics, are presented in this thesis. In addition, the electronic states in lowdimensional systems fabricated from GaAs / Al?Ga1-?As heterostructures have been investigated by using both transport methods and the static calculations.
