11. Nitrogen-containing products from atmospheric oxidation of volatile organic compounds
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) produces a wide range of oxygenated organic products that lead to formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA). SOA represents a significant fraction of the tropospheric aerosol that influence climate and human health. LÄS MER
12. Monoterpenes from the boreal coniferous forest : their role in atmospheric chemistry
Sammanfattning : The goal of this work has been to increase our knowledge of the role of the monoteipenes emitted by the boreal coniferous forest in atmospheric chemical processes. To this end, measurements of air concentrations and emission rates have been made in forests of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and Norwegian spruce (Picea abies) at 4 sites throughout Sweden, during the summers of 1989 and 1990. 13. Atmospheric Dispersion Modellingof Volcanic Emissions
Sammanfattning : Gases and particles released by volcanoes pose a serious hazard to humans and society. Emis-sions can be transported over long distances before being reduced to harmless concentrations.Knowing which areas are, or will be, exposed to volcanic emissions is an important part inreducing the impact on human health or society. 14. Noctilucent clouds in a coupled atmosphere
Sammanfattning : Noctilucent clouds (NLC) at altitudes around 80 km are the highest clouds in our atmosphere. They have been a subject of research ever since their discovery in the late 19th century. This thesis takes an important step towards using NLC as a tool for studying dynamic coupling processes in the atmosphere on a global scale. LÄS MER
