  1. 1. Engineering Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803 for microbial terpenoid production

    Författare :João S. Rodrigues; Pia Lindberg; Patrik R. Jones; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Synechocystis; metabolic engineering; bisabolene; isoprene; cyanobacteria; Chemistry with specialization in Microbial Chemistry; Kemi med inriktning mot mikrobiell kemi;

    Sammanfattning : As part of the efforts to develop a carbon-neutral economy, photosynthetic microorganisms such as cyanobacteria have been extensively studied as solar-powered cell factories for the production of organic compounds with industrial interest, using the atmospheric CO2 as carbon source.Among other metabolites, cyanobacteria produce terpenoids, a diverse group of natural products that play pivotal roles in the cell. 2. 2. Exhaled markers of oxidative stress in the airways

    Författare :Mona Lärstad; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :exhaled air; exhaled breath condensate; malondialdehyde; 3-nitrotyrosine; ethane; pentane; isoprene; oxidative stress; airways; inflammation;

    Sammanfattning : Breath contains a number of different molecules, some of which may have potential use as markers for oxidative stress in the airways during chronic airway inflammation. The major objectives were to develop and validate methods for quantifying five potential exhaled markers of oxidative stress: malondialdehyde (MDA) and free 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT) in exhaled breath condensate (EBC) and ethane, pentane and isoprene in exhaled air, and to test the applicability of the methods. 3. 3. Nitrogen-containing products from atmospheric oxidation of volatile organic compounds

    Författare :Epameinondas Tsiligiannis; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; VOC; anthropogenic; biogenic; SOA; atmospheric oxidation; organic aerosols; CIMS; FIGAERO; TMB; isoprene; HOM; organonitrates ONs ; NOx; OH; nitrate NO3 ; Go:PAM; SAPHIR;

    Sammanfattning : Atmospheric oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) produces a wide range of oxygenated organic products that lead to formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA). SOA represents a significant fraction of the tropospheric aerosol that influence climate and human health. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Primary and secondary organics in biogenic atmospheric aerosol : The chiral study of 2-methyltetrols from method development to application

    Författare :Nélida Jocelyn Donají Karlsson; Kevin Noone; Sandro Fuzzi; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmospheric organic aerosols; 2-methyltetrols; isoprene; chiral GC-MS; enantiomeric composition; Applied Environmental Science; tillämpad miljövetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Distinguishing between the primary and secondary origin of the organic components in atmospheric aerosols is one of the key parameters in assessing the relevance and role of different chemical species in the overall chemistry of the atmosphere. Currently available methods used in field measurements are not able to fully discriminate between the primary or secondary origin of compounds detected in atmospheric aerosols. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Land-atmosphere interaction of a subarctic palsa mire

    Författare :Marcin Jackowicz-Korczynski; Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; eddy covariance; chamber; methnaol; isoprene; nonmethane hydrocarbons; methane; carbon dioxide; carbon; mire; permafrost; subarctic; palsa; greenhouse gas;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of this thesis was to quantitatively estimate the gaseous exchange of carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4) between a subarctic wetland ecosystem and the atmosphere. Additionally some initial estimates of the carbon input to the atmosphere of nonmethane hydrocarbons (NMHCs) were also obtained by combining different techniques in a joint setting. LÄS MER
