1. Nitrogen-containing products from atmospheric oxidation of volatile organic compounds
Sammanfattning : Atmospheric oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) produces a wide range of oxygenated organic products that lead to formation of secondary organic aerosol (SOA). SOA represents a significant fraction of the tropospheric aerosol that influence climate and human health. LÄS MER
2. Atmospheric Chemistry of Volatile Organic Compounds: Oxidation Products, Mechanisms and Secondary Organic Aerosol Formation
Sammanfattning : The results from this work are a piece in understanding the complex puzzle of atmospheric aerosol formation. Secondary organic aerosol (SOA) formed by the oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the atmosphere is a key component of air pollution with a strong negative impact on human health and influence on climate, but its formation is poorly understood. 3. Oxidation of some Late Transition Metal Surfaces: Structural Studies from UHV to Atmospheric Pressure
Sammanfattning : The oxidation of Rh, Pd and Pt is studied under conditions ranging from ultra high vacuum to ambient pressures, with emphasis on a complete understanding of the geometry of the various oxide structures found. The investigations use a combination of various experimental methods, including high resolution core level spectroscopy, low energy electron diffraction, surface x-ray diffraction and scanning tunneling microscopy, as well as density functional theory calculations. 4. Monoterpenes from the boreal coniferous forest : their role in atmospheric chemistry
Sammanfattning : The goal of this work has been to increase our knowledge of the role of the monoteipenes emitted by the boreal coniferous forest in atmospheric chemical processes. To this end, measurements of air concentrations and emission rates have been made in forests of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) and Norwegian spruce (Picea abies) at 4 sites throughout Sweden, during the summers of 1989 and 1990. 5. Sulfur Capture and Oxidation of Calcium Sulfide in PFBC
Sammanfattning : Sorbents such as limestone are successfully used for removal of SO2 during pressurized fluidized bed combustion (PFBC) processes. However, there still remains a strong incentive to reduce the consumption of such sorbents. LÄS MER
