6. On the processing of starch consolidated high speed steel - Microstructure and tribological properties
Sammanfattning : This thesis focuses on processing of high speed steel (HSS) powder into components using starch consolidation (SC) and supersolidus liquid phase sintering (SLPS). The work consists of four parts. First, the possibilities and constrains of the SC process are investigated and the role of starch in the green body fabrication clarified. LÄS MER
7. Tribological nature of squealing disc brakes
Sammanfattning : In the stiff competition between car manufacturers, silent and vibration free brakes hasbecome increasingly important. The aim of the present work is to increase the knowledge of the fundamental friction mechanisms operating in brake systems and to study the parameters influencing disc brake squeal generation. 8. Tribological and Mechanical Behaviour of Lamellar and Compacted Graphite Irons in Engine Applications
Sammanfattning : There has been much discussion about the beneficial uses of lamellar graphite iron in piston rings–cylinder liner systems, where a good combinations of both thermal and tribological properties are essential. The excellent tribological performance of lamellar iron under such sliding conditions is principally associated with lubrication behaviour of the graphite particles which are distributed as lamellas throughout the matrix. 9. On tribological design in gear tooth contacts
Sammanfattning : The correct tribological design will have a considerable effect on a gear’s service life and efficiency. The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the impact of variation in the gear tooth flank tribological system on the gear contact load capacity – to increase the understanding of how surface topography and lubricant interact. 10. Nonlinear Isoviscous Behaviour of Compliant Journal Bearings
Sammanfattning : Plans to shut down nuclear power plants in some European countries as well as increased electricity production by wind and solar power will increase the work load on hydroelectric power plants in the future. Also, due to the power grid regulations, hydroelectric power plants undergo more frequent start-ups and shut-downs. LÄS MER
