  1. 1. Sustainable Sewage Sludge Management : Addressing Multidisciplinary Challenges

    Författare :Torben Bauer; Lale Andreas; Elisabeth Wetterlund; Anders Lagerkvist; Anders Damgaard; Christina Dornack; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Avfallsteknik; Waste Science and Technology;

    Sammanfattning : This PhD thesis focuses on multidisciplinary challenges in sewage sludge management and how they can be addressed to increase sustainability. Sewage sludge is the residual from wastewater treatment. It contains both resources and contaminants making its management challenging. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Tribological and Mechanical Behaviour of Lamellar and Compacted Graphite Irons in Engine Applications

    Författare :Rohollah Ghasemi; Anders Professor; Lennart Assistance professor; Bengt-Göran Rosén; Anders Jarfors; Lennart Elmquist; Jönköping University; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Sliding wear; abrasive wear; graphite lubricating performance; matrix deformation; lamellar graphite iron; high-Si compacted graphite iron;

    Sammanfattning : There has been much discussion about the beneficial uses of lamellar graphite iron in piston rings–cylinder liner systems, where a good combinations of both thermal and tribological properties are essential. The excellent tribological performance of lamellar iron under such sliding conditions is principally associated with lubrication behaviour of the graphite particles which are distributed as lamellas throughout the matrix. 3. 3. Improved adrenocortical PET imaging

    Författare :Isabella Silins; Peter Stålberg; Per Hellman; Gunnar Antoni; Anders Sundin; Azita Monazzam; Håkan Geijer; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Sammanfattning : Introduction: Adrenal tumours can either be benign or malignant, hormone secreting or not, and they can be discovered through clinical examination of the patient or by pure chance. Increased knowledge in the area, plus the widespread use of imaging techniques, have resulted in a rising number of patients with adrenal tumours that subsequently need to be diagnosed. Författare :Anders Lidgren; Börje Ljungberg; Torgny Rasmuson; Kjell Grankvist; Anders Bergh; Per-Uno Malmström; Umeå universitet; []
    Nyckelord :MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; renal cell carcinoma; hypoxia; RT-PCR; angiogenesis; western blot; tissue microarray; protein; mRNA; HIF-1 alpha; GLUT-1; survival; Urology and andrology; Urologi och andrologi;

    Sammanfattning : Hypoxia Inducible Factor-1α in Renal Cell Carcinoma Departments of Surgical and Perioperative Sciences, Urology and Andrology; Radiation Sciences, Oncology; Medical Biosciences, Pathology; and Medical Biosciences, Clinical Chemistry, Umeå University, Umeå, Sweden Background: Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for approximately 2-3% of all human cancers. A distinguished feature of RCC is vascularisation and among the three dominating RCC types conventional RCC (cRCC) generally is more vascularised than papillary RCC (pRCC) and chromophobe RCC (chRCC). 5. 5. Prehistoric human impact on wild mammalian populations in Scandinavia

    Författare :Hans Ahlgren; Kerstin Lidén; Anders Angerbjörn; Anders Götherström; Gørill Nilsen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Nyckelord :HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; hunter-gatherers; Baltic Sea; Mesolithic period; grey seal; harp seal; mountain hare; moose; ancient DNA; hunting; translocation; arkeologi med inriktning mot laborativ arkeologi; Scientific Archaeology;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis aims to study the interactions of pre-agricultural societies in Scandinavia with wild mammals, for example in terms of hunting and translocation. More specifically, the aim is to investigate the possibility of identifying examples of overexploitation, targeted hunting or translocation of wild mammals in prehistoric Scandinavia, and to discuss the implications this could have had for both the wild animals and the humans.
