31. Development of prefabricated timber-concrete composite floors
Sammanfattning : Timber-concrete composite structures were originally developed for bridges and upgrading of existing timber floors, but finds today new applications in multi-storey buildings. Most of the research performed to date has been focused on systems where "wet" concrete is cast on top of timber beams with mounted connectors. LÄS MER
32. Plug shear failure in nailed timber connections : avoiding brittle and promoting ductile failures
Sammanfattning : Mechanical timber connections can fail both in a brittle and a ductile manner depending on the joint layout. Plug shear failure in nailed timber connections is a brittle failure mode, which shall be avoided in timber structures. LÄS MER
33. The shear plate dowel joint : Research on a novel connection for heavy timber structures
Sammanfattning : An increased use of wood can reduce the environmental footprint of the building sector. In order to improve the competitiveness of heavy timber structures, the thesis presents a novel type of timber connection with a high degree of prefabrication. LÄS MER
34. Pith location and annual ring detection for modelling of knots and fibre orientation in structural timber : A Deep-Learning-Based Approach
Sammanfattning : Detection of pith, annual rings and knots in relation to timber board cross-sections is relevant for many purposes, such as for modelling of sawn timber and for real-time assessment of strength, stiffness and shape stability of wood materials. However, the methods that are available and implemented in optical scanners today do not always meet customer accuracy and/or speed requirements. LÄS MER
35. Design support system for multi-storey timber structures
Sammanfattning : The research presented in this thesis is intended to improve the building process for multi-storey timber houses by reducing the risk of information loss between architects and structural engineers and by improving the possibilities for the structural engineers to optimise the structure with respect to production cost. This is reached by developing and implementing a conceptual model for a design support system for multi-storey timber structures that is capable of handling the information transfer between the architects and the structural engineers in a standardized manner and by providing a method that is capable of finding optimally directed solutions for the structure with respect to production cost.
