  1. 1. CO2 storage in deep saline aquifers : Models for geological heterogeneity and large domains

    Författare :Liang Tian; Auli Niemi; Fritjof Fagerlund; Simon Mathias; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; CO2; Carbon Capture Storage; Storage Capacity; Injectivity; Monte Carlo; Gaussian; Permeability; Upscaling; 二氧化碳; 地質封存; 高斯仿真; 滲透係數; 非均質性; 升尺度; 存儲效能; 場地模擬; 不確定性; 壓力累積;

    Sammanfattning : This work presents model development and model analyses of CO2 storage in deep saline aquifers. The goal has been two-fold, firstly to develop models and address the system behaviour under geological heterogeneity, second to tackle the issues related to problem scale as modelling of the CO2 storage systems can become prohibitively complex when large systems are considered. 2. 2. Hydrogen Storage Materials : Design, Catalysis, Thermodynamics, Structure and Optics

    Författare :Carlos Moysés Graça Araújo; Rajeev Ahuja; Ole Martin Løvvik; Uppsala universitet; []
    Nyckelord :Materials science; Hydrogen-storage materials; Density functional theory; Molecular dynamics; Catalysis; Thermodynamics; Optics; Materialvetenskap;

    Sammanfattning : Hydrogen is abundant, uniformly distributed throughout the Earth's surface and its oxidation product (water) is environmentally benign. Owing to these features, it is considered as an ideal synthetic fuel for a new world energetic matrix (renewable, secure and environmentally friendly) that could allow a sustainable future development. 3. 3. Hybrid energy storage systems : Capacity optimization and environmental implication of hybrid energy storage systems in renewable power systems

    Författare :Yang Jiao; Daniel Månsson; Alfred Rufer; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Electricity production contributes a large share of greenhouse gas emissions that lead to climate change. At present, power generation in many parts of the world still heavily depends on fossil fuels. To prevent global warming, the electricity sector is supposed to transition from the current fuel mix to renewable energy sources. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Increasing the hosting capacity of distributed energy resources using storage and communication

    Författare :Nicholas Etherden; Sami Repo; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Renewable Energy Generation; Energy Storage; Hosting Capacity; Curtailment; Demand Response; Dynamic Line Rating; Power System Communication; Smart Grid; Förnyelsebara energikällor; Energilagring; Acceptansgräns; Kommunikation i kraftsystem; Smarta elnät; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik; Electric Power Engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The use of electricity from Distributed Energy Resources like wind and solar powerwill impact the performance of the electricity network and this sets a limit to theamount of such renewables that can be connected. Investment in energy storage andcommunication technologies enables more renewables by operating the networkcloser to its limits. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Increasing the hosting capacity of distributed energy resources using storage and communication

    Författare :Nicholas Etherden; Joao A Peças Lopes; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electric Power Systems; Renewable Energy; Energy Storage; Hosting Capacity; Curtailment; Power Utility Automation; IEC 61850; Smart Grid; Elkraft; Förnyelsebara energikällor; Energilager; Acceptansgräns; Produktionsnedstyrning; Kraftsystemsautomation; IEC 61850; Smarta elnät; Electric Power Engineering; Elkraftteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis develops methods to increase the amount of renewable energy sources that can be integrated into a power grid. The assessed methods include i) dynamic real-time assessment to enable the grid to be operated closer to its design limits; ii) energy storage and iii) coordinated control of distributed production units.
