  1. 16. Energy system evaluation of thermo-chemical biofuel production : Process development by integration of power cycles and sustainable electricity

    Författare :Martin Bojler Görling; Mats Westermark; Jörgen Held; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Biomass; Gasification; Methane; SNG; Power to Gas; Pyrolysis;

    Sammanfattning : Fossil fuels dominate the world energy supply today and the transport sector is no exception. Renewable alternatives must therefore be introduced to replace fossil fuels and their emissions, without sacrificing our standard of living. LÄS MER

  2. 17. CO2 mitigation in advanced power cycles

    Författare :Jens Wolf; Jinyue Yan; Hongguang Jin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; chemical looping combusion; co2 capture; hydrogen production; trigeneration; co-generation; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis encompasses CO2 mitigation using three different processes: i) natural gas-fired combined cycle with chemical looping combustion (CLC), ii) trigeneration of electrical power, hydrogen and district heating with extended CLC, iii) steam-based gasification of biomass integrated in an advanced power cycle. In CLC, a solid oxygen carrier circulates between two fluidised-bed reactors and transports oxygen from the combustion air to the fuel; thus, the fuel is not mixed with air and an inherent CO2 separation occurs. 3. 18. Lignocellulosic Ethanol Production Based on Steam Pretreatment and SSF: Process Development through Experiments and Simulations

    Författare :Per Sassner; Avdelningen för kemiteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Process simulation; Energy efficiency; SSF; Enzymatic hydrolysis; Lignocellulose; Steam pretreatment; Ethanol production; Process economics; Flow-sheeting;

    Sammanfattning : Lignocellulosic materials, such as wood, waste products from the forestry industry, agricultural residues and herbaceous crops, serve as an abundant and comparatively cheap feedstock with the potential to be used for large-scale ethanol production. However, the complex structure of lignocellulosic materials, the presence of various hexose and pentose sugars in hemicellulose, and the presence of various compounds that inhibit the fermenting organism constitute physical barriers that add to the production cost and make full-scale introduction economically more risky. 4. 19. RhPt and Ni based catalysts for fuel reforming in energy conversion

    Författare :Angélica Viviana González Arcos; Lars J. Pettersson; Klas Engvall; Anker Jensen; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; RhPt bimetallic catalysts; Ni catalysts; ceria-zirconia; potassium tungsten bronze; zirconium dioxide; autothermal reforming; biodiesel; diesel; sulfur; deactivation; tar reforming; steam reforming; biomass gasification; auxiliary power units; naphthalene; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : Although current trends in global warming are of great concern, energy demand is still increasing, resulting in increasing pollutant emissions. To address this issue, we need reliable renewable energy sources, lowered pollutant emissions, and efficient and profitable processes for energy conversion. LÄS MER

  5. 20. From Laboratory to System. Studies of Superheated Steam Drying of Biofuel

    Författare :Hans Björk; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Nyckelord :NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; energy-system; dynamic; superheated steam drying; equilibrium moisture content; organic emissions; life cycle assessment LCA ; biofuel; optimisation; design;

    Sammanfattning : Replacement of fossil fuels by more sustainable fuels such as biofuels has become increasingly important during the last decade. This is mainly due to economical and environmental reasons. LÄS MER
