  1. 1. Combined Energy Systems Applied to Productive Sectors: The Case of Dairy Farms in Central Bolivia

    Författare :Johnny Villarroel-Schneider; Anders Malmquist; Andrew R. Martin; Monica Odlare; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bolivia; polygeneration; trigeneration; productive sector; dairy; biogas; electricity; refrigeration; multiservice; performance; techno-economic; Bolivia; poligeneración; trigeneración; sector productivo; lechería; biogás; electricidad; refrigeración; multiservicio; eficiencia; tecno-económico; Energiteknik; Energy Technology;

    Sammanfattning : Most energy solutions in developing countries focus primarily on solving domestic energy demands of their growing populations without due consideration of sustainable development. On the other hand, in most of these countries, a segment of energy users that has not received enough attention from governments and institutions regarding appropriate energy solutions is the productive sector. 2. 2. The role of absorption cooling for reaching sustainable energy systems

    Författare :Susanne Lindmark; Viktoria Martin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; Absorption cooling; trigeneration; district cooling; humidified gas engine; waste heat; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : The energy consumption is continuous to increase around the world and with that follows the demand for sustainable solutions for future energy systems. With growing energy consumption from fossil based fuels the threat of global warming through release of CO2 to the atmosphere increases. LÄS MER

  3. 3. CO2 mitigation in advanced power cycles

    Författare :Jens Wolf; Jinyue Yan; Hongguang Jin; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; chemical looping combusion; co2 capture; hydrogen production; trigeneration; co-generation; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis encompasses CO2 mitigation using three different processes: i) natural gas-fired combined cycle with chemical looping combustion (CLC), ii) trigeneration of electrical power, hydrogen and district heating with extended CLC, iii) steam-based gasification of biomass integrated in an advanced power cycle. In CLC, a solid oxygen carrier circulates between two fluidised-bed reactors and transports oxygen from the combustion air to the fuel; thus, the fuel is not mixed with air and an inherent CO2 separation occurs. 4. 4. Evaporative Cycles - in Theori and in Practise

    Författare :Per M Rosén; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Motors and propulsion systems; Trigeneration; Combustion Engines; Gas Turbines; CHAT; HAM; HAT; Evaporative Cycles; EvGT; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik;

    Sammanfattning : The thesis is based on applied research, rather closed to industrial development. The developed simulation model, for pre-design of evaporative gas turbine cycles, has been validated in a 600 kW pilot plant and in rebuilt turbo-charged diesel engines. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Combined Electricity Production and Thermally Driven Cooling from Municipal Solid Waste

    Författare :Seksan Udomsri; Andrew R. Martin; Torsten Fransson; Erik Dahlquist; KTH; []
    Nyckelord :TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; municipal solid waste; incineration; hybrid cycle; power production; thermally driven cooling; absorption chillers; decentralized thermally driven cooling; district heating; Mechanical and thermal engineering; Mekanisk och termisk energiteknik; SRA - Energy; SRA - Energi;

    Sammanfattning : Increasingly intensive efforts are being made to enhance energy systems via augmented introduction of renewable energy along with improved energy efficiency. Resource constraints and sustained high fossil fuel prices have created a new phenomenon in the world market. LÄS MER
