8. Fast-tunable resonators and quantum electrical circuits
Sammanfattning : In this thesis, measurements on superconducting electrical circuits that exhibit quantum mechanical effects are presented. Nonlinear superconducting circuits can be regarded as artificial atoms with energy spectra that can be engineered. The artificial atoms can be used as quantum bits for quantum computation. LÄS MER
9. Superconducting Qubits: Charge read-out and backaction
Sammanfattning : For quantum computers to become reality, not only do the qubits have to be carefully engineered to be well isolated during operation time, but this also puts great strain on the measurement setup. We have looked at the backaction from a single-electron transistor (SET), operated both in the normal and in the superconducting state, on a single Cooper-pair box qubit. LÄS MER
10. Quantum Correlations and Temperature Fluctuations in Nanoscale Systems
Sammanfattning : This thesis addresses two different topics related to the physics of nanoscale systems. The first topic concerns quantum correlations and entanglement between electrons in solid-state systems, with a focus on how to generate electronic orbital entanglement on a sub-decoherence time scale and how to achieve experimentally more feasible entanglement detection schemes.
