6. Improving the Neutron Cross-section Standards 238U(n,f) and 6Li(n,a) : Measurements and Simulations
Sammanfattning : Improving or extending the range of cross-section standards, which in general are believed to be well known, require good control of the experimental conditions and the uncertainties involved. Two experiments that aspire to improve two different neutron cross-section standards, 238U(n,f) and 6Li(n,a, are presented in this thesis. LÄS MER
7. From Strange to Charm : Meson production in electron-positron collisions
Sammanfattning : Decays of pseudoscalar mesons into a lepton-antilepton pair are very rare within the Standard Model since they cannot proceed via a single photon process. The C-even neutral mesons can be produced in electron-positron collisions by a two-photon intermediate state. LÄS MER
8. Time-Based Reconstruction of Hyperons at PANDA at FAIR
Sammanfattning : The PANDA (anti-Proton ANnihilation at DArmstadt) experiment at the future FAIR (Facility for Anti-proton and Ion Research) offers unique possibilities for performing hyperon physics. The almost full 4π coverage of the detector will enable the reconstruction of both hyperon and antihyperon which will be created together in proton-antiproton collisions. 9. Time for Hyperons : Development of Software Tools for Reconstructing Hyperons at PANDA and HADES
Sammanfattning : The PANDA experiment at FAIR offers unique possibilities for performing hyperon physics. The detector will enable the reconstruction of both hyperon and antihyperon, which will be created together in proton-antiproton collisions. This enables investigations of the strong interaction in the non-perturbative regime. LÄS MER
10. Hadron Physics in a Polarized World : Exploring Electromagnetic Interactions with Spin Observables
Sammanfattning : The electromagnetic interactions of hadrons serve as a valuable probe of the nature of the strong force at low energies and simultaneously allow for tests of fundamental discrete symmetries. In this thesis, I show how polarization observables can be used to gain an in-depth understanding of these processes and present two analyses of data from the BESIII experiment where such observables have been studied.
