26. Railway wheel steel behaviour upon thermo-mechanical loadings
Sammanfattning : Optimised railway maintenance techniques such as rail grinding and milling, or rail repair welding, are vital to more sustainable rail networks. As demands on the railway increases, the need to better understand the material behaviour during local heating events occurring during maintenance is amplified. LÄS MER
27. Thermomechanical behaviour of tread braked wheels
Sammanfattning : Tread brakes, also known as block brakes, are a type of friction brakes commonly used in the railway industry. They are a low-cost and low-maintenance solution compared to more complicated systems such as disc brakes or electrodynamic brakes. LÄS MER
28. Thermal stability and age hardening of TiN-based thin films
Sammanfattning : The work presented herein is about characterizing phase transformations in cathodic arc plasma-deposited Ti1-xA1xN and Ti1-zZrzN thin films for cutting tool applications, and to investigate how the films' mechanical properties are affected by such transformations during thermal annealing. Post-deposition analyses were carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), nanoindentation, four-point probe sheet resistance, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Rutherford backscattering spectrometry (RBS). 29. Influence of surface roughness on rolling contact fatigue considering thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication effects : Due to Corona it is not possible to attend this defense in person, instead attend via this link: https://play.kth.se/media/0_omfsppe6
Sammanfattning : Rolling contacts are utilized in many technical applications, both in bearings and in the contacts between gear teeth. These components are subjected to high loads in many of their applications. The high loads causes very high contact pressures which may cause rolling contact fatigue, often denoted as pitting or spalling. LÄS MER
30. Surface Integrity of Broached Inconel 718 and Influence of Thermal Exposure
Sammanfattning : Inconel 718 is a nickel-based superalloy that is extensively used as a disc material in gas turbine engines. The service life of gas turbine discs is normally governed by the modes of material degradation and fatigue failure since they work mostly at high temperatures and are subjected to cyclic mechanical loadings.
